Operation Christmas Child

I am off to the store shortly to buy some items for my daughter's next project for her Brownie Troop. It is called Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Samaritan's Purse.

This is a project her troop did last year too. It is where we will pack shoe boxes with little items for children. It can be anything from toys such as small cars, balls, dolls, etc. And school supplies such as pens, pencils, crayons. And even hygiene items like toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

The boxes are packed with these items and the organization Samaritan's Purse ships them to children all over the world to receive. The boxes go to children living in parts of the world that may be living in poverty. They may not even have paper or pencils to write with. They may not even have a toothbrush!

A women that ships these items came and talked to the troop last year, about where these boxes go. It was very moving to here about the recipients of the boxes and how these little items will mean so much to them. It was also a great lesson for the Brownie Troop to hear, what other kids around the world don't have, that they may take for granted. It really makes you appreciate what you have.

If you want more information on Operation Christmas Child and how you can pack a shoe box, visit Samaritan's Purse's website.
