Photobucket

So starting tomorrow I'll be on another commenting frenzy! It really wasn't as hard as I thought and I didn't start until about a week into last time and I finished by the 20th! So I think I can definitely do it again this month. The biggest one I commented on was Wordless Wednesday. And the good thing about it was I received a lot of comments back.

Another thing was on slow days I entered some blog giveaways, by commenting on them. And I actually won 4 of them! So I'll be back to commenting starting tomorrow!

Camera Critters - Brother Bear

When we were at the zoo last month, we really enjoyed the black bears. They were very playful. And they decided to have a little wrestling match, while we were watching. It was really cool to watch.

Here's a video I made using both still pictures I took. And a short video my son took using his Flip camera.

Ride Manta!

I love roller coasters! I can't wait to go to some amusement parks this summer. My husband's work maybe having a family day sometime this summer at an amusement park. I can't wait.

Speaking of roller coasters, I found out about
Manta, which is SeaWorld's latest ride. It is so new it just opened this month! Check out the video above for a cool first hand look at what this ride is like. This roller coaster looks so awesome. I would totally want to ride on that!

If you want to ride Manta too, then you should check out SeaWorlds contest. In honor of this new ride they are running a "Front of the Line" contest. I'm sure you know how it is when you want to ride on a roller coaster and you have to wait forever in line, especially if it is a new ride. Well this contest will take care of that.

Just visit the website and click on the Participate & win button. Then all you have to do is follow 6 easy steps and you will win a front of the line pass. So when you go to SeaWorld to ride Manta, you won't have to wait - you can get right on!

Go enter now - it's easy and you could be riding this awesome ride without the wait!

VGNO! Fun Quizes

Photobucket

I joined Facebook about 6 months ago, but just recently started getting into it. I'm starting to get addicted to some of the apps on there. Like Farm Town, I must grow my farm! I'm constantly checking it.

Another cool thing is I've been able to get in touch with my BFF from college. She sent me a quiz last night. Find out your "celebrity twin." I took the quiz and it said I was most like .... OctoMom! Number one I didn't know she was a celebrity and no way am I like OctoMom! I was hoping for something like Angelina Jolie -lol.

If you're on Facebook check out the quiz here:

Who is your Celebrity Twin?

Here's another quiz from Ann

Use the chart to find which Barbie you are. Use the letter of your first name.

A - D = Sunscreen Barbie

E - H = Lactose Intolerate Barbie

I - L = Migraine Barbie

M - P = Blogger Barbie

Q - T = Mini Van Barbie

U - Z = Bi-Polar Barbie

I would be Mini Van Barbie, which kind of fits since I drive a mini-van. What kind of Barbie are you?

(I just upgraded from Silver Mr. Linky to Gold Mr. Linky for only $1.07. Testing to see if this works now)

Win $1000 In Widget Contest!

I just found this really cool widget for your blog, social networking profile or other website. It is called the Parent's Connect Widget.

This widget is pretty cool too. Your readers can type in their zip code and then find local events or happenings in their area. I just tried it out and found some different things going on at some museums not to far from me. Everything from a science museum to a museum about the British Redcoats. These sound like fun events for the whole family. Also I probably would have never heard of them if I hadn't just used this cool widget.

Try it now by entering your zip code. And you can see what fun events are going on in your area. Also another cool thing about this widget is there is a Widget Contest going on. Just click the Get & Share button on the widget to post it to your web page. Then enter to win $1000! Click the link above and enter your info on the contest page. And the person who has the most impressions from the widget, by November will win $1000. I just entered! You should too, check it out!

Two Awesome Awards!

I received these two awards this morning from the awesome Sara @ Ordinary and Awesome.

I met Sara, I'm not sure exactly when, but I know it was through Wordless Wednesday. Now she has her own "Mostly Wordless Wednesday Headquarters" and gets quite a following with it. She has two other blogs, too. A web design blog - she does great blog makeovers. And a review & giveaway blog. Check out her blogs when you get a chance. Thanks, Sara for the awards!

Now I would like to pass on these two awards to the following bloggers:

Lydia @ On The Verge

Need A Better Security System?

Do you need a better security system then the one you currently have? Or if you're like me you need just need a security system period! I have to admit, I currently don't have any kind of wireless security system in my house.

The best I can do right now is lock my doors and hope for the best. I have deadbolts on the doors too so that gives me some piece of mind. But I don't have a security system that will really protect my family from any kind of break in.

If you are in the same situation as me, you may want to look into a GE security system, from Protect America. You can get 100% protection for your home, apartment or even small business, using their security systems.

They have many different packages to choose from. One such package is the Copper Package. The Copper Package was rated the best buy from Consumer's Digest. Right now if you purchase the Copper Package, your upfront cost is free! You also will receive a talking control panel, 1 motion detector, 3 entry points and many more features are included with this package.

So if you are like me, and basically are relying on good old fashioned security, like a baseball bat near your bed - then now is the time to look into a terrific package from Protect America. And if you call this toll free number: 877-470-2751, you will receive 2 keychain remotes with your order. Call today!

Book your stay today so you can be in the middle of all the action. Because these two hotels are situated in the entertainment capital of the Midwest, which is Branson, Missouri. Mellow Yellow #6

Below is every yard owners nightmare - dandelions. These were not in my yard though- but in a field near my daughter's school. They still look kind of pretty when there is a whole field of them. Since I took this picture, they have mowed the field up there.

Hope everyone has a Happy Memorial Day. I am off to the parade in a few minutes, my daughter is marching in it.

Ready For a Hawaiian Vacation?

Picture_2

Wouldn't you just love to take a vacation in Hawaii? I have always wanted to go there. I thought about going there for my honeymoon, but for some reason we didn't do that. I really wish I had though.

Well if you would love to go there either on a vacation, or even to have your wedding or honeymoon there, now would be a perfect time to do it. Because I also just found out about a terrific place to stay. It is a Maui Resort called Ka'anapali Resort. It is located on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui, and the Ka'anapali Resort has a lot of fantastic amenities. It would also be a great place for Maui Weddings .

One of the top things to do there of course is swimming. You can either enjoy a swim in the hotel's whale shaped pool or the beautiful ocean. Some other activities to enjoy while there are luaus, helicopter rides, snorkeling, and whale watches, and much more. They also offer some of the best dining experiences. There is a huge variety of restaurants there. You can get everything from the homeland's cuisine, to Chinese, Japanese and a lot of other cuisines.

So if you ever considered taking a vacation in Hawaii, or maybe even plan your wedding or honeymoon there, then you should check out the Ka'anapali Resort. You can even make a reservation online!

Camera Critters #8

Here is a "little guy" I came across on a walk in the woods. This slug was hiding under some leaves, until my daughter kicked up some of them, and spotted it. Normally I wouldn't want to see a slug, but I thought he was rather innocent. And he wasn't in my garden, so that's fine by me.

Charter Rolls Out Phatband

Ultra60small

More news, I just learned about a new Charter service, when I was reading Charter’s Twitter Feed, I'd like to share with you. Charter's Ultra60 Mbps service is the fastest Internet speed in the St. Louis market. It is also one of the fastest in the U.S.

The Ultra60 Information Page shows that Ultra60 is currently available in St. Louis, and it is soon to be released in more areas. Charter will also be rolling out other high speed products throughout 2009.

The release of Ultra60 is Charter's way of providing it's customers with the fastest Internet speed available. With so many people using multimedia sites, it is critical to have high speed Internet. Phatband takes DSL to the next level, because it is so super fast!

Users will be able to use the Internet for gaming, telecommuting with mega-files and much more at super high speeds. And the speed of Ultra60 will allow customers to multi-task like never before. Charter's Ultra60 is only one of the Phatband speeds they will be releasing. Charter predicts that their Phatband will make DSL look like dial-up! Gamers also really love Phatband for it's ability to download patches in record time, eliminating lags in gaming .

Looking At The Sky On Friday #15 & VGNO

Photobucket

The other night, while I was watching the American Idol finale, I looked out my front door. I saw a lot of pink in the sky so I snapped some pictures.

Bad news - Adam did not win. I said I would not get upset no matter who won, but I lied. I am still upset that Adam didn't win!

Good news - I won 3 different blog giveaways this week! One was the giveaway from Ann, another is for a candle and goats milk soap, and the one I just found out last night is a Pepsi Throwback Giveaway! Which has $150 worth of stuff from Pepsi! I'm so excited!

Anyway here's my pink sky picture:

WW #56 "Name This Tree"

Hi, all! Can anyone tell me the name of this tree/bush? I have two of these in my front yard and I have no idea what they are called. I have been living here for almost 10 years and still don't know the name of these trees/bushes.

They bloom beautiful white "balls" this time of year. And they also have a great fragrance too. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Summer Vacation Is Coming Up

I can't believe this weekend is Memorial Day Weekend! That came up quick. Soon Summer vacation is going to be here. My family and I like to do a lot of camping in the summer. I have already planned one camping trip, we are taking. We have reservations for 4 day camping trip Fourth of July weekend. I hope to make some more plans for our vacation soon.

One thing that would be really cool, is if we could take a trip to
Kissimmee. There is a lot of fun things to do there. While in Kissimmee you can visit World Class Theme Parks. These theme parks include, Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and Seaworld Orlando. Kissimmee is central to all these theme parks, and no Kissimme vacation would be complete without visiting at least one or two of these theme parks. That's why it's great to plan your theme park vacation in Kissimme, because it is the heart of Florida.

While in Kissimme, another cool thing I would like to do is go on an air boat ride. My sister went on one of these when she was in Florida, and said it was a blast. You can really see nature up close and enjoy the great outdoors on one of these air boats. And you can go fast and have a lot of fun doing it too.

That is the great thing about a vacation in Kissimmee, you can visit all the great theme parks and also enjoy the outdoors. You can see all the great things in Florida and enjoy the small town atmosphere of Kissimmee.

And you can have a chance to win a trip to Kissimme. Enter the sweepstakes and you could win either a weekend getaway or a week long vacation. Wouldn't that be cool? I don't know about you, but I am really getting excited about Summer vacation! And now is a great time to start planning yours!

Mellow Yellow - Sign

Here is a nice yellow sign. These signs go all along the route to my daughter's school. There is a path that is safe for kids to walk or even bike ride to school on. So they are safe from cars, because a section of the road is reserved for walking or bike riding.

Marketers Are Using Sponsored Conversations

I just watched the above video, which is pretty interesting. It talks about how marketers used to rely on word of mouth marketing. In order for a product to get attention marketers used to have to wait for it to get popular through word of mouth.

But now with the boom in social media, marketers are relying more on what is called a sponsored conversation. A sponsored conversation is a social media marketing technique in where marketers compensate social media publishers to spread the word. In fact this post I'm writing now is a sponsored conversation. I am being compensated to write this post.

Leading marketers are using sponsored conversations to get guaranteed exposure. Sponsored conversations work because they are genuine, measurable, scalable, and cost effective for advertisers.

Grocery Coupons from The Grocery Game

Have you ever heard of the Grocery Game? I just found out about it. It was created by Teri Gault who was looking for ways to save money for her family.

Teri had a hobby of collecting Grocery Coupons and then matching them to store sales. Out of this hobby she has grown a business, which is the Grocery Game.

When you play the Grocery Game you will get a weekly list, which is called "Teri's List." This list will have the lowest priced products at your supermarket and will also be matched with manufactures coupons and specials. The Grocery Game can help you to save hundreds of dollars on your bill a month!

Some of these weekly special are advertised and unadvertised! I love to cut coupons, but it is not easy to find them and I don't always have time to hunt for them. With the Grocery Game, all the research is already done for you! Plus the Grocery Game can help you to know when the best time to use certain coupons is. Their databases track nearly every item in the supermarket and they will tell you when the item hits rock bottom sales, so you will know when the best time to use it is.

So if you want to save hundreds of dollars a month on your grocery bill then now is the time to check out The Grocery Game!

If you were to have a candy bar named after you what would it be called? Just for fun follow the guide below to create your candy bar name. Ex. If your first name starts with an 'A' and your last name starts with an 'H' your candy bar would be called "Sweet Confection". Try it out.

Your First Name
A - C = Sweet
D - F = Honey
G - I = Lucious
J - L = Sugar
M - O = Precious
P - R = Savory
S - U = Delightful
V - Z = Heavenly

Your Last Name
A - C = BonBon
D - F = Tart
G - I = Confection
J - L = Chunk
M - O = Honey
P - R = Blossom
S - U = Bits
V - Z = Buns

My candy bar would be called Delightful BonBon.

When I was in college a drink my friends and I used to like was Sex On The Beach.

1 1/2 oz vodka1/2 oz peach schnapps2 oz cranberry juice2 oz orange juice
Add vodka and peach schnapps to a highball glass over ice. Fill with equal measures of cranberry juice and orange juice, and stir.

Which then reminded me of my best friend from college, Julie and our favorite song. Ice Ice Baby! I found out recently that she's getting married in October! Yea!

It's Starting To Get Hot

Now that it's Spring and fast approaching Summer it's starting to get hot outside. I went to the library earlier today and originally was wearing a jacket. As soon as I got into the car, I realized I didn't need the jacket on. It was really hot inside the car. Luckily my AC is working in my car.

My husband isn't so lucky. He needs a new ac compressor for his car. His air conditioning isn't working. Maybe I'll get him to check out a website I found called Discount Compressor.com. They have low prices and really good deals with a warranty. They also have people who can help you find what you need. And their service people are more than happy to help you over the phone.

Looking At The Sky On Friday

This picture was taken at a place called "Wildlife Pond." We went there last Sunday on Mother's Day. That was our first time visiting there. It was really nice there and I want to go back!

When my husband asked me what I wanted to do on Mother's Day, I said go for a "nature walk" somewhere. Call me crazy, but that is what I like to do. So that is one of the things we did that day.

Thursday Thirteen #25 "Pageant Moms"

header by samulli

This post is in no way to put down "Pageant Moms," it is just after a brief taste of what it might be like, I realized I could never be one.

That being said let me explain a little. My daughter takes dance lessons. Last Saturday was "picture day." So it was quite the ordeal getting ready. We will have to do it all again next month for the actual "recital."

So here is 13 reasons I found out why I could not or do not want to be a "Pageant Mom."

1. I found out I'm no good at putting makeup on other people.

2. I don't even own that much makeup! I had to go out and buy at least $25.00 worth of makeup for her to use.

3. I don't really want my 9 yr. old wearing all that makeup.

4. I'm no good at fixing hair into hairdos. Other years she had to wear more elaborate hairdos - this yr. it's just two pigtails - and I can barely manage that.

5. Too time consuming. Just to get ready and actually get the picture taken took almost 4 hours.

6. Too stressful. It is nerve racking trying to get ready on time & get everything just right.

7. Dealing with delays. They told us to be there 10-15 min. before our scheduled time, and that they wouldn't wait for anyone, and everything would run on time. - Not true - Everything was delayed by at least a half an hour or more!

8. Dealing with the other parents. From mother's yelling at their kids not to do this and do that, to Dad's getting very huffy because we had to wait around so long.

9. Too much commotion. Kids, parents and people who work there running around trying to get ready, etc.

10. To much confusion. Not knowing if you have their hair, make-up and costume on the right way.

11. Too much money. I won't tell you how much I spent on this class. But between the money for the class, the costume (which is an outrageous amount for these costumes - that they only wear like 2 times!), makeup, hair stuff, and these pictures - it's expensive. I can't imagine how much money real pageants must cost.

12. No information. Although the dance place she's going to is nice, and she likes it, they are lacking on info. Any info you get from them regarding the class, pictures or even the recital coming up, is like pulling teeth!

13. And the number one reason I wouldn't ever want to be a Pageant Mom, is I had a splitting headache by the time it was all done!

With all that being said, my daughter looked so cute in this outfit and I think these pictures are going to come out great! I'll be posting them as soon as I can!

To view more, or better yet participate also go here: Thursday Thirteen.

**Update** After reading the comments, just wanted to say. Please take this somewhat in jest. Regularly we just go to the class and she dances there is no problem. This is just an occurrence that happens at picture time and the recital.

WW # 55 "Parks, Parks & More Parks"

The kids like to go to the park. Especially my daughter. She loves going to the park. It doesn't matter what park it is. If we go somewhere and there is a park she has to play in it. This is a collage of at least 3 different parks we have been to in the past couple of weeks.

(I tried to make a collage for over an hour, but they just don't come out right)

New Press Release From Cryo-Cell

I have talked in previous posts about the benefits of cord blood and about saving stem cells from menstrual blood. Well now there is new information, I would like to share with you from the CryoCell Press Release .

Cryo-Cell International has announced results from a new study that shows that adding menstrual blood cells to umbilical cord blood stem cells expands the number of progenitor cells. Progenitor cells are cells that grow into mature blood cells.

Stem cells found in cord blood have been proven to treat more than 70 life-threatening illnesses. Since the first successful cord blood stem cell transplant in 1988, cord blood stem cells have been used in more than 10,000 transplants worldwide. Cord blood stem cells however can only be collected at birth and does not yield a sufficient number of stem cells typically required for transplantation. That is why this new research is so exciting.

The new studies show that adding menstrual stem cells to cord blood stem cells will boost the yield of cord blood stem cells. Thus producing more cells that can possibly be used to help fight such diseases including leukemia, neuroblastoma, lymphoma and sickle cell anemia.

If you are interested in more information about this read the full press release for yourself. Which will help you to make a decision on if you want to start saving your stem cells for the future.
