WW "Retired Books"

One thing that is cool about where I live now, is the library system. We have access to I think like 13 different libraries, in surrounding towns.

My daughter needed a book for her reading class at school, so we looked online and found the book. It was located in a library we hadn't been to yet. We went there last week and found the book. We looked around and it is a pretty cool library. They also have a good DVD selection.

Here's something interesting I found:

There was some shelves of books. If you can't read the sign above, it says "Retired Books, Looking for a Home, Please Help."

I never heard of "retired books" before. These looked like perfectly good books to me. But hey what the heck so far I've taken like 6 books from this. And I get to keep them and not worry about returning them on time (which I'm kinda bad at.) Well next time I go there, I'll look for some more.

Meet blu: The perfect alternative to cigarettes

blu photo bluCigsLogo_zpscd8b7579.jpg

Hi guys. I want to tell you about a really awesome product, I received recently. It is an electronic cigarette.

When I saw that I could review one of these, I jumped at the chance. I felt like this would be a perfect alternative to cigarettes, for my husband. That is because it has no ash and no smell. And you can enjoy more freedom with this. Let me tell you that it is an electronic cigarette from blu eCigs.

When we got the package in the mail last week from bluCigs, my husband was at work.  I thought I would leave it for him to open up, when he got home. He has been working the late shift, and got home late. So when he got home he opened it up and read some of the instructions. He was pretty excited about it. And wanted to try it.

 photo 200x200blu_zps28070257.jpg

I went to bed. And I guess it didn't take to long to charge. (it comes with a standard wall charger and a USB Charger - which is cool - so you could even charge at work on your computer for example) Well anyway, he must have really got a good first impression of the blu Electronic Cigarette, because he woke me up a little while later, to tell me so!

So far he has really been enjoying the freedom of the electronic cigarette. He can smoke in the car and it doesn't smell like an ashtray. And I actually have been enjoying that as well. He also has been liking not having to go outside to smoke. Before he would have to go outside, since I don't like the smell in the house. But now he can smoke right inside, because there is no smell.

We noticed this one night when we were watching some movies at home. Usually we have to pause every so often for a smoke break, but he was able to just smoke right in the house, with this  Electronic Cigarette. It was actually really cool for both of us. He told me the other day, he has been using it at work too.

We received the blu eCigs starter kit. And they can be as little as $49.95. And there is a variety of flavors to pick from. There is Vivid Vanilla, Cherry Crush, Classic Tobacco, Magnificent Menthol, Pina Colada, Java Jolt and Peach Schnapps. I think he has tried the Peach, Classic and Menthol so far. He told me the other day, he particularly liked the Magnificent Menthol.

And the good news is when he runs out of cartridges, he can buy more at over 60,000 locations. I checked the blu eCigs locator, and found several places right around our area, that sell the electronic cigarettes, and the cartridges. So that is really cool.

Also check out this YouTube video about bluCigs:

So if you are interested in trying an alternative to cigarettes with a no ash and no smell experience then check out blu eCigs.

My Kranich's Jewelers Wish List

Hello everyone, I was perusing a website recently. I think I am going to start making up a wish list of things I would like from it.

Since Valentine's Day, and even my birthday are coming up soon, I have been looking into getting some jewelry. For example I could really use a nice watch. I saw some beautiful ones on Kranich's Jewelers. Like the one pictured below. Isn't this lovely?

I would also like a new ring. I was checking out the amazing designer ArtCarved rings. Like this one:

I want my husband to check out Kranich's ArtCarved rings also. So he can get some ideas for my wish list. Don't you think that is a good plan? Between the two of us I'm sure we'll be able to come up with some fun ideas!

WW "Got Some Snow"

Living in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for the first 40 + years of my life I know snow. I remember one year in NH we got a record 120 + inches one winter.

Now that I live in Virginia - it's a whole different story. Last week we got some snow. They were scrolling warnings on the TV screen two days in advance. Schools were closed Friday. I heard the next day there was over 100 accidents.

Here is a picture I took in the morning of the snow storm. We hardly got 2 inches of snow. But it was enough around here to cause total chaos - lol. Things are sure different in Virginia.

The Best Laptops for Mummy Bloggers

The following is a guest post:

In my hectic life as a mum and a writer, I want a laptop that is both portable and fashionable, so that I can carry it with me on the busiest days. Here are my three favourite laptops to write on the go– you can easily find them online from hundreds of sellers:
The Top 3
1. Samsung Chromebook: Advertised as the laptop to help tackle everyday tasks faster and easier, everything on this laptop runs online through Chrome so I can use Google Docs for writing and Google Hangouts to video call friends and family. The Chromebook starts up in seconds and is so lightweight I can carry it around in my purse to use whenever I get a spare moment.
2. Macbook Air: Always pushing the edge of technology and style, there’s the Macbook Air. Incredibly thin and lightweight, this laptop comes standard with the impressive Mountain Lion operating system and is packed with useful tools to help keep every aspect of my life organized.
3. Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook: At only 1.3 cm thick, I can slip it into my bag when I’m rushing out the door. It connects instantly to the web and has a six-hour continuous use battery, so nothing’s holding me back from getting things done.

The Verdict
While all of these laptops respond to a mummy blogger’s needs in one way or another, each one of them has different strengths and weaknesses. And it would certainly be wrong to put them all on the same level: the Macbook Air’s quality and overall performance is undoubtedly superior, but this means even the cheaper 11-inch version starts at £849. The Aspire S3 is instead a rather good compromise between quality and affordability, with a more affordable £450 as starting price. Finally, the Chromebook is the way to go if you’re looking to save some money and you’re not expecting the most performing machine: £229 for a very portable laptop is a bargain few mummy bloggers could resist!

WW - Empty Hostess Store

We "had" a Hostess/Wonder Bread store up the street from us. In record time they closed up shop. Literally   within a week of hostess saying they were claiming bankruptcy, this place closed up.

My daughter took these pictures while we drove by the other day. I want this sign, It reminds me of something the guys form "American Pickers" would want.

But don't despair, because Hostess and Wonder bread are being bought, I guess by some other companies.

The First Communion (Guest Post)

Communion and especially first communion is a very important event in a child’s religious upbringing, and it is the first reception of the sacrament. There is usually a large party or a large family gathering associated with this important celebration, and the child receiving first communion wears a special outfit. Since the child is typically older, about 7 or 8, they often want to wear an outfit that is not only appropriate but also showcases a bit of the child’s personality. The clothing is often white to symbolize the child’s purity. The girls typically wear fancy dresses, such as those found at Noori dresses while the boys have on fancy suits. The first communion is a very important spiritual even in a child’s life, as well as a celebratory occasion for the entire family. Many families choose to take professional photos to capture the moment, so make it a day to remember.

Save Money Travelling as a Family

'Family at the hotel check in' photo (c) 2011, Holidayextras - license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/

Traveling as a family is a great opportunity to spend time together as well as an opportunity to grow as an individual as you discover new places. However, traveling can be an expensive endeavour which can hit the wallet even more when you travel as a group. The following are some suggestions a family can discover the world, while keeping more money, sometimes foreign, in their wallet.

Bed and Breakfast:Many hotels these days offer a complimentary buffet-style breakfast for their guests. This is a great deal for families. Two parents and two children can often share a room and save tens of dollars on breakfast the following day. By filling up on free breakfast you will not be tempted to buy food until the next meal. If possible, try to rent a room with a fridge or a little kitchenette where you can store some snacks or cook a few meals without needing to go outside to restaurants.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure: We all get sick; this is a fact of life. However, no one wants to be sick on vacation.
Not only is it an inconvenience it can be downright expensive, especially if you need emergency medical care. So do not skimp and buy travel insurance in Canada, for a few dollars you can not only save hundreds of thousands of dollars but also be protected against trip cancellation, trip interruption or baggage loss or delay.

Remember that it is a journey: Once you get to your travel destination, make sure to discover the many free things the new place has to offer. Do some research. Many museums, zoos or exhibits have discounted days or even free admission on certain days of the month. By planning your schedule accordingly you can save a lot of money in admission fees. Furthermore do not be hung up on seeing everything. Take a walk through the main streets or the local park or the beach. These are all free activities that will make a huge impact on your travel experience.

Do some research:As mentioned before, taking a little bit of time to research your trip beforehand, can save you a lot of money in the end. If you know the places that you want to visit beforehand, make sure to visit their website and see if there are any coupons that are available for your adventures. Instead of spending a lot of money for a taxi at the airport, try and check if your hotel offers a shuttle service. There are plenty of discounts available for families if you keep your eye open.

Haggle: Many places want your business, so they are willing to work with you to get you a better price. Perhaps an airline can offer you a cheaper seat on a different line? Or a vendor at the local market will lower the price of his goods, if you only ask.
Through these tips and more, your family can have a great and inexpensive travel experience.

The above is a guest post I found in my inbox this morning that I thought you might enjoy.

WW - She Made a Pillow

My daughter is taking a sewing/cooking class this semester at school. She sewed up a pillow. This is her first real thing she sewed herself - especially on a sewing machine.

We picked out this red material. It is solid red on one side and polka dots on the other.

She is very proud/excited about this pillow she made!

Engage your kids with Splatalot

The following is a guest post from Splatalot:

With childhood obesity now considered to be at an all time high, many parents are trying to get their kids to engage in a more active lifestyle. However, they face a challenge in convincing their children that physical activity can be fun. After all no child wants to run the track in circles or do continuous sit-ups. If you are looking for a new way to get your kids interested in exercise, consider watching the Canadian medieval themed physical game show Splatalot, and making it a family ritual.

Splatalot, is physical activity game show for kids featured on the YTV channel and is similar to the television show Wipeout! In the show the kids have to get through a large, extreme obstacle course with three rounds of competition. In al,l they will face crossing the moat, escaping the stockade and finally capture the Crown. In each episode a new group of 12 tweens and teens that will compete to be the fasted on the course. But that is not all. As if obstacles weren’t enough the teens will face the ‘Defenders’, which is an international squad of nine medieval ‘gladiators’ whose mission is to protect the castle from the contestants know as the Attackers. Once the first Attacker gets through the Defenders and the obstacle course they win.

Parents can kids can cheer for their favourite contestant and laugh at the ones that go “Splat!” and at the same time realize how much fun physical activity can be. The obstacles are unusual and a lot of fun, and they show is presented in a comedic way that is sure to keep the whole family excited and entertained -definitely different and more stimulating than your average gym class. The show has become so popular that there are even now international editions filming.

Because of the success of the show there is now a game developed called; Splatalot 2: Capture the Crown 2. The game is available on the games section of the YTV website. In the game, the challenger has to pass through several obstacles to capture the crown in the end. Fans of the show will recognize many of the obstacles from television within the game. Since the Splatalot 2: Capture the Crown 2 is absolutely free of charge and available on the internet it means that kids can hone their obstacle course skills at any time, even with the snow blanketing the outside world. The controllers and concept are easy to use and easy to follow, respectively, which means that kids will not get very easily discouraged with the gaming.

With heaps and loads of splashes and spills, Splatalot is a great show for kids to watch and enjoy with the families, and who knows maybe with a little training your child will want to one day participate in the game show itself? In the mean time they can practice their obstacle course navigation through interactive game available on YTV. Splatalot get the kids and their families excited about physical activity and exercise.

Personalized Amazing Biorhythms Review & Giveaway - 2 winners

Hey guys I have a cool review and giveaway for you. It is from the website Because I Tried It. One of the things this site provides is Personalized Gifts for Anyone, Anytime.

I received an Amazing Biorhythm. Here is an example pictured below:

Here is a little info on product:

Product Description
"Bio" means life and "rhythm" means flowing with a regular movement.
We all have three ways of operating in this world; three internal energies
interacting with each other in a continuously changing pattern on a daily basis.
These are our biorhythms. They are the three cycles of energy that
govern the physical, emotional, and intellectual aspects of our lives:
Our physical sensations, our emotions, and our ability to reason.
Each of these parts has its own ups and downs.

Here is My Review:

I really like stuff like this. I find this sort of analysis very interesting.

I mean I'm always checking my horoscope and things like that, so I really love
things like this.

I gave them my name and birth date, and it came up with this very informative
document. It gave me an analysis of my three cycles - the physical
emotional and intellectual.

I was just studying my Personal Biorhythm that I received and I can see what days
are my critical days. Like when I should be more careful physically, like what day
I may be on a physical low, avoid physical stress, etc. And there really is so much
more to learn from this. I am going to print this out and really take a good look at this.

It will print up nice and colorful too, and would also really make a great gift for
someone - if you get their information on it. It also would look great framed.

Win it: 2 Lucky readers will win their own Personalized Biorhythms.

Additional information:

This is sponsored by the site Because I Tried it. You will have an opportunity to

Deal Dash for the New Year

Hi guys. Hope you are having a good start to your New Year. You may recall me discussing DealDash in some previous posts. So now I want to remind you again about this website.

This is a great way to start off your new year. You should really check out this website. In case you are not familiar with DealDash, it is a fair and honest auction site.

DealDash is the longest running penny auction site in the US. It has been running since 2009. They are also the only major Penny Auction to offer free shipping on all items.

How it works is you sign up and buy bids. Then you choose your products. Then you place your bids. You either win your products or you get your bids back! Sounds cool right?

The great thing about DealDash is that they give you your bids back. One of the biggest problems with other penny auction sites, is that you bid on things, and then if you lose the product you walk away empty handed. With Deal Dash you always get your bids back for free.

The other nice thing about DealDash is their Buy it Now policy. If you don't win the auction, you have the option of buying it at it's normal fixed price. So if you are looking for a great penny auction site to start off your new year then you should really check out DealDash!

Ready for 2013!

Do You Worry about privacy online?

With everybody doing more and more online, privacy issues are becoming more relevant. Do you worry about your privacy on online venues?

I know there was a big deal about Instagram recently. A lot of people deleted their accounts. I don't do Instagram, because you need an iPhone or something right? So I don't have that, so I guess I don't have to worry about that anyway.

I think there should be more Privacy Laws inTechnology though. Don't you? I mean I just heard something on the news, that I thought was kinda disturbing. They said something like, not only can new employers look at your facebook account, but they can actually go into your account profile. And they won't even need a password. I mean I think it's ok if they look at your public information. But if you have something that you specifically want private, it should be kept private.

Do you agree there needs to be more laws about all this? I put pictures on facebook, Twitter, and I guess my blog. So you are vulnerable to anyone using your photos, etc. But I think you should be protected somehow against all of this online. I'm no expert on any of this, but the people who are should really fix some of these issues soon!
