Back To School Tomorrow

Tomorrow is my kids first day back to school. It means the end of summer and end of late nights. And not just for them! I have been staying up late every night because the kids go to bed later in the summer. So then I stay up a little later after they go to bed. Then I have been getting up later in the morning. But back to school means the end of that for them and me too!

My son is starting 7th grade! I can't believe it! And we'll have to get up around 6:30 AM, which will take some getting used to again, for both of us. And then my daughter is starting 3rd grade, and will have to get the bus around 8:30 AM.

No one is going to want to go to bed early tonight, but I'm sure it will catch up to them the rest of the week. And we will all be tired tomorrow. So then it will be back to going to bed early and getting up early. Oh well, that's fine because I'm ready for back to school, even though they're not.

Here's a little poem I found, that I thought was cute for back to school:

'Twas the night before school started,
When all through the town,
The parents were cheering...
It was a riotous sound.

By eight the kids were washed,
And tucked into bed,
When memories of homework,
Filled them with dread.

New pencils, new folders,
New notebooks, too,
New teachers, new friends-
Their anxiety grew.

The parents just giggled,
When they learned of this fright,
And shouted, "Upstairs!

  1. I could be happy about school starting back but it means driving 2 hours a day for me.

My son is old enough to get his drivers license but after seeing what I go through to keep us alive ~ he just doesn't seem to be as interested lol.

Good luck with your dream job ~ I voted for you! :)

  2. My kids started school on August 4th...We live in Arizona...still having problems with the bedtime time with all 3 kids

  3. Love the poem, too funny! I also have a new 7th grader. It's a rough week here :(
