Who Would Give Up Red Sox Tickets?

As you probably know by now I'm a Huge Red Sox fan so when I heard the following story I could not believe it:

Recently, where my mother works they had a raffle. One of the prizes was 4 Red Sox tickets to a Red Sox vs. Blue Jays game. Unfortunately, my mother didn't win. Another lady won, but when given the tickets she turned around and said she didn't want them. Say What?

Not only did she tell the owner of the company, that was having the raffle, that she didn't want the tickets, she said she wanted him to give her the money for them! WTH! Number one who in their right mind wouldn't want the tickets? If you don't want them, most people have friends or relatives who would. And you could always sell them and get a pretty good price for them. And number two, I'm sorry but if you win something in a raffle, and you don't want it, you don't turn around and expect them to pay you for it instead! That's crazy. I've never heard of it!

I guess the owner of the company paid her the face value of these tickets! I don't know what ended up happening to the tickets. (Because that game, actually got rained out, and is rescheduled for this Saturday) They should have just said "Ok, you don't want them. Well we'll raffle them again and pick another name. And then that person gets them!"

I wish my mother had won them, hopefully she would have taken me - lol! Oh well. It reminds me of this commercial that they will show sometimes during the game. I love this commercial:

On another note, Some news about the Red Sox: Tonight (September 8, 2008) the Red Sox will set the MBL Sellout Record. Also, they will be playing Tampa Bay. The Red Sox are only 1.5 games behind TB. If we can sweep them, we will be in first place! One way or the other we will make it in to the playoffs, because we're in line for the wild card slot. But it would be great if we could get in by being Number 1! GO SOX!

  1. What a goofy thing! I agree with you, the company should have just drawn another name and she gets nothing. Go Sox! My husband is a big fan!

  2. Hmm, I am actually surprised that they paid her the money. I have never heard of that either. Hmm. Very interesting.

  3. Karen & Toni, thanks for your comments. Yes it is weird. But the place where my mother works is like that, they do weird stuff.
