At my last residence I had some hummingbird feeders. Since moving I haven't put up any hummingbird feeders though. I really miss that.
I love hummingbirds, and really like to see them up close eating at a feeder. I was just reading some information on hummingbirds migration. I found out that each year starting out as early as January, hummingbirds start their migration journey. Then they start their return journey in July. However the majority will begin this in August and even September.
The migration process uses a lot of energy for the hummingbirds. July-September many of the insects and flowers hummingbirds eat start to dry up. So they are looking for sources of food. That's why they can really benefit from people who put up hummingbird feeders.
Reading this information really has me wanting to get another hummingbird feeder!
