Book Review: Weird Sports

Weird Sports

I recently received a book to review called, "Weird Sports." Written by Michael Teitelbaum. It is from Beach Ball Books

Product Information:
Ostrich racing, anyone?  How about cheese rolling or extreme ironing? From Estonia to Pakistan, Finland to Malaysia, offbeat events the world over are the subject of Weird Sports, which shows kids just how weird, wild, and amusing athletics can be. Yes, it's amazing how skill, strength, and strategy come to the fore in mind-boggling sports like underwater hockey, elephant soccer, extreme unicycling, and even bog snorkeling. Cool facts, awesome photos, and "tips from the pros" make Weird Sports a must-read for everyone from mini-athletes to junior couch potatoes.

My Take on The Product:
This book is really fun! It is almost 50 pages of weird sports, all with cool descriptions and really colorful pictures.

I didn't realize that there was so many "weird sports" out there. A few that caught my eye are -

#1: Toilet Racing. People actually ride on toilets and have races. A couple of the rules  - all racers must have one clean toilet. All toilets must be capable of being steered left to right. And there is more to this sport. Now that is weird!

#2 - Skijoring. I actually saw this on my local news recently. This is were a person on skis is pulled by a horse (dog or motor vehicle too). This looked really cool. Like a combo of horse jumping & ski jumping! Cool!

#3 - Extreme Ironing. This seems so crazy to me! Watch this YouTube video to get an idea of this:

That's just some of the weird sports highlighted in this book. Check it out for yourself. This is a fun book for kids & for the whole family!
