Apple Picking in VA

Over the weekend we went apple picking. This is the first time we went since moving to Virginia. We were used to literally going like 15 min away, when we lived in NH. Recently, I googled somewhere around me now and the closest place was about 2 hrs away. 

But we decided to go anyway. It is called Carter Mountain Orchard, in Charlottesville, VA.

I guess I didn't research too much because I didn't expect it to actually be on top of a mountain. When we got there we had to drive up, up and up, a very windy steep road! It vaguely reminded me of Mount Washington in NH.

WW #77 "More Apple Picking"

We finally had a nice weekend, where we could go apple picking again. We went to a different place then last time, because I had a coupon for 20% off. This time we only got about 10 lbs. of apples.

Also thanks to everyone for your comments on last weeks Wordless Wednesday. My husband's surgery had a few complications. Instead of a 2 day recovery time, it ended up being more like a week. But he is doing much better now.

WW #76 "Daughter and Dad"

Here's another picture taken on our Apple Picking trip. It was 3 1/2 weeks ago since we went. And believe it or not we did go through all 30 lbs. of apples already. Mostly in apple pies.

We were supposed to go again last Saturday with my daughter's school, but it rained all day. And we didn't feel like going in the rain. We may go again this weekend.

This is my daughter and my husband. Also if you could please keep my husband in your thougths. At 2:30 this afternoon, he is having surgery for kidney stones. It is a routine surgery and he should be fine. But I'm still worried.

WW #73 "Apple Picking 2009"

We went apple picking on Sunday. The kids, my husband, my sister and I went and picked like 40 pounds of apples! Now we have plenty of apples to make some pies.

It was a nice sunny day, but felt like fall. One thing I was thinking is the week before we were at the beach, the next week we are apple picking. Weird, but that's life.
