Son's School Picture - 2014

Here is my son's school picture this year:

please disregard the writing/whited out parts - lol! This is actually just a proof. Being that my son is a senior this year. I had to pay extra just for 4 proofs. Now to get just one - say 5X7 - I am going to have to pay a lot for it!

The only reason I guess is because the seniors can do a whole photo shoot, a variety of pics, poses, wardrobe changes. You didn't have to do that & my son was one of the one's who just wanted this one pose. But it is still going to cost me like 3 times as much just for one picture! I have til January to order, I will order a real one soon! lol.

Oh well, I really like this picture anyway!

Friday Photo Flashback #4

My son turned 13 in July. I still can't believe he is a teenager now. He is in 8th grade this year. I also can't believe next year he will be in High School!

So this week I want to share one of my favorite photos of him. This is from his first birthday party. So I guess it is 1997. He got this little ride on lawn mower. I put him on it and took this picture. I love this because he's sticking his tongue out at me. At the time I even had this picture put on a t-shirt for my husband.

Acne Care Products

Being the mother of a 12 year old, soon to be 13 year old in July, I have started to see the signs of acne on my son. On his forhead, near his hair line he has some acne. He even has some on the back of his neck now too.

It might be time to start thinking about getting him some
Acne care products. There are some great acne treatment products on this website I found. It is called Acne Information 101. There is a product called MD Formulations Teen Acne Kit. It includes 4 products for teen acne. The 4 products are Facial Cleanser Oily 2.2oz, Glycare Acne Gel 2oz, Advanced Hydrating Complex Gel 0.5oz, Total Protector 30 0.3oz. This sounds like some great products for treating teen acne. And something my son could use.

There are other products on the site too. Some to treat adult acne. Such as MD Formulations Adult Anti-Blemish Kit For Adult Acne. That includes 5 different products. Another product is an Acne Treatment system containing 3 products that will remove acne without irritation or drying skin. Which sounds nice, since I know when I've tried some acne products it tends to be drying. But this would be great if it doesn't dry out your skin.

If you or someone you know is in need of some great acne treatment products then check out Acne Information 101 for more information.

Photo Hunters 25 ~ Yellow

When I saw that the theme this week was yellow, this picture came to mind:

Duck!

This is a picture of my son, on his I think 5th birthday party (he's 12 now). My sister gave him this cute yellow ducky umbrella. He really loved this yellow umbrella and I remember took quite a few pictures with it. Posing for everyone with it while they took a bunch of pictures.

Happy With Daughter's Report Card

My daughter received her report card the other day. I'm very pleased with how she did. She is in 3rd grade this year. It is the first year where that she has actually received letter grades. Up until now she would just get checks and stars and such.

She got a B- in Language Arts, a B- in Math, a B in Social Studies and an A in Behavior, and an A in Work Habits. They didn't grade Science, because they haven't really done much in that subject yet. So for the first time getting "letter" grades I think she did great!

The one thing she doesn't excel in is Spelling, in fact my son doesn't do that good in that either. He didn't get his report card yet, because his school is on a different schedule. Next week is teacher's conferences, and I know the first thing they will say is their spelling problems. It's an issue every year. Oh well, if that's they only thing they don't do good in then I'm happy!

My Son Made a 7 Layer Dip!

My son is in 7th grade this year. I can't believe it, he is growing up so fast! His first trimester he is taking cooking class. I can't believe that either, that seems so grown up.

But anyway he seems to be really enjoying the cooking class. He has always shown an interest in cooking anyway. When we go camping he likes to help do some of the cooking. So in his class last week they made a 7 Layer Dip. He came home with the recipe and really wanted to try to make it himself.

We actually had the perfect opportunity to do that, this past Sunday. My sister and brother-in-law came up to visit Sunday. So he decided to make it for them on that day. I went to the store the day before to get the ingredients. And he put it together Sunday morning. He made it all by himself! (Well virtually all by himself, with a little help.)

The dip came out great! And when he served it, everyone seemed to really like it. As evidence by the fact that it was pretty much eaten up quick. I'm very proud of my son, for trying new things, and being interested in cooking. Which is a great skill to have. Who knows maybe someday he can cook a whole meal for us!

Here's the recipe for 7 Layer Dip:

1 1/4 C refried beans
1 avocado (mashed)
1 1/2 tbsp lime or lemon juice
3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 tbsp taco seasoning mix
1 seeded, diced tomato
1/8 C sliced black olives
1/4 C green onions sliced
1 1/8 C shredded cheese

In casserole dish or pie plate, layer refried beans. Mash and add lime juice to mashed avocado, layer. Combine sour cream and taco seasoning mix, spread for next layer. Spread tomatoes for next layer, then drained black olives. Chop green onions and spread over olive layer. Finish with shredded cheese, and serve with tortilla chips.
