The Library

I'll be glad when I don't have to come to the library anymore to use the computers. Don't get me wrong I like the library. But I have never come to it on such a daily basis.

Our library is actually very nice. They have a huge selection of books, Videos, and DVD's. They even have a Movie Theater with home theater seating. And show free movies on the weekends for adults and kids. It's like going to the movies but for free!

But the downside to coming to the library is of course just driving a couple of miles to get here is a pain. And you have to pay to park here. Which has always gone against my grain. I mean it is a Public Library. It should be free, right? But you have to dig up change evertime before arriving to pump the meters. Then there is also the computer room. You get a limited amount of time on the computers. You sign in with your card number and start off with an hour. If there is still available computers when that is up it will extend your time. But still you feel kind of pressured.

And then there is also the weather to take into account. I can't come in ice or snow to use the computers. So that's why I figured I better come today. It looks like I might not be coming tomorrow. Since we may be getting 5-10 inches of snow tomorrow!

So although I love our library. I'll be glad when I don't have to come on such a regular basis.

No Book After All

Well I'm not getting that book out of the library (that I talked about yesterday) after all. It appears that book is not allowed to be taken out of the library. They have categorized it as a "reference" book.

Here's what happened: I checked online at my library's website before I left home to find out that they had the book, and it was checked in. I went to the library with my daughter yesterday. And after she played in the children's section, got some books, etc. I wanted to go find the book I wanted. I found out it was in what they call the "Hunt Room." I had no idea what that was, but found the room. It was a closed room, that had a sign on it that said "Check with librarian before entering."

I found a librarian and told her I wanted a book that was in the "Hunt Room." She said ok, but those books are for reference only and have to be kept in the library. I said this is a regular book, "Fritz Wetherbee" wrote it about NH. It's just stories about NH. She checked to see if there maybe was more then one copy. She said no. And asked do you still want me to get it? I said no, I wanted to take it home to read it.

The librarian probably thought I was crazy, because I was very upset about it. I was either going to cry and/or reach over and strangle this librarian. (Just kidding, sort of) I don't know why I got so upset about it. But I was really looking forward to getting this book, and think it is absolutely ridiculous, that it can't be checked out. What good is it then? It is basically locked in a room, that no one has access to, and no one is looking at it or allowed to check it out. It's not like an encyclopedia or anything. It's a regular book!

So I may one day buy the book, if I really want it that bad. Or I was considering complaining to the library. Which is probably useless. Or maybe I'll email this Fritz Wetherbee and tell him my story.

Going to the Library

I really hope to get over to the library this weekend. I want to check out some books. Especially one by Fritz Wetherbee. You probably never heard of him. But he is a man that lives in my state (NH) and he wrote some books.

He's also on a local TV show here, "NH Chronicle." He does a segment on the show were he "Tells you a story." He tells stories all about NH. They are really interesting. It's all history type stories about people and places in NH. I really enjoy listening to him on the TV show. He has written a few books, compiling the stories in the books. So I want to go see if I can find it at the library.

I'll write more about the book, after I read it.
