Shopping Geese

Up at the big shopping area where I go, there are lots of geese around. They hang out on the sides in the grassy areas, but also are seen crossing the streets too. This is a very busy area with lots of cars but the geese have no qualms about just crossing the road in the middle of traffic. Make sure you yield for the geese. lol

linking up with Camera Critters too.

Camera Critters - Turtle

Since living in Virginia for the past couple of years I've noticed a lot of different wildlife, then we had in New England.

One being turtles/tortoises. I see turtles all the time around here, just trying to cross the street or something. I just saw a couple this week(little ones)

Well especially in the spring we see some really big turtles. Like this guy who came in our yard. "She" I guess, because she ended up laying some eggs in our yard.

(I know there are turtles everywhere I just Personally never had them coming into my yard and laying eggs)

Doesn't look as big in these pictures as it really was in person!

Thanks for stopping by. Visit here to see more:

Lots of Geese

We went walking around The James River near Hopewell, recently & we came upon a lot of geese.

There were groups and groups of them.

All  in all we counted well over 120 geese.

Camera Critters: Butterflies

I  really love butterflies. I'm sure most people do.

This summer the lake at the campground had so many butterflies. Anyone know what attracts the butterflies to the beach/sand?

At some points there was at least 20-30 butterflies hanging out together on the sand.

Well here is some pics & a video I took.

Camera Critters An Odd Duck

Over the Summer when we went camping, we met a cool duck. He was a pretty friendly duck.

He would come around the beach a couple of times a day. And he would get pretty close to you. Usually looking for food.

I heard the lifeguards call him, "Charlie."

I have no idea what kind of duck this is. To me he is an odd duck. I kinda now somewhat about birds, but this is a new one to me. Anyone have any idea what kind of duck this is?

Anyway, here's Charlie. Of course when I finally got around to get his picture he wasn't being very cooperative:

WW Places My Cat Goes

My cat has been sitting/sleeping in some curious places lately.

We left a suitcase out one time and now this is her new "bed"

One day I found her up in cabinet with the dishes. Shooed her out of there though.

Sometimes she goes in the linen closet:

And last night when my daughter and I got home, she was sitting on top of the refrigerator! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of her there, but will if she does it again - lol

WW Love this Frog

Hey guys, I would share a picture of a spider I saw right outside on my porch, earlier this week. But I was so freaked out by it I could not get a picture of it. I am not kidding when I say it was the size of a tarantula. My husband was even freaked out.

Instead I will show you a picture of the cute little frog. That was also on my front stairs. Isn't he cute?

It's like a jungle around here! lol

Camera Critters - frog

This little guy (think "Rainforest Cafe" Frog) greets me inside and outside my mailbox on a regular basis.

I've also seen him when I mow the lawn. The other night he was stuck to the outside of my kitchen window.

But the funniest thing was when - one night my daughter opened her window to look outside. (we don't have screens) - next thing she is running screaming. I finally figured out she was saying a frog jumped on her.

It was then up to me to capture him - while he was jumping around her room. And then put him back outside. This guy sure gets around!

Camera Critters

Last week, we noticed a "dead" possum on the side of our street. Later that day while driving by there was turkey vultures taking advantage of the situation.

I got my camera and went back. I counted 15 turkey vultures.

Camera Critters!

My 8 month old kitty (Pepper)  loves to sit in the windows and look out. During the summer she loved to sit right in the windows. But now that it's fall, they are shut. So my husband made her a little shelf on the window she can sit on and look out.

Camera Critters!

I haven't posted any pictures of my "kitty" in awhile. She is now almost 6 months old. Pepper is sometimes my computer buddy. This was taken awhile ago, but this is what she does a lot of the times when I'm on the computer:

Sometimes she sits all over the keyboard too, and then really messes everything up!

Camera Critters!

Yesterday around 6:00 p.m., my daughter who was playing in our back yard came running in the house. She was like, "Mommy, come quick. There is a really weird bird in the neighbor's back yard."

I ran out there, thinking I was just going to see a Cardinal or something. Imagine my surprise when this is what I saw:

I had her run back in the house to get my camera. I leaned over our fence and snapped a bunch of pictures. These two came out the best. I then talked to my neighbor who said the bird had been there since about 11 am.

Since then I atctually listed this on Craigslist as a 'found bird.' I have gotten a few replies telling me it is a kind of "Golden Pheasant." And that it is definately someone's pet bird that probably got loose. This is not a 'wild bird.' Or at least I don't think it is? Anyone have any ideas on what this bird is?

No signs of it this morning though. If it shows up today, either I or my neighbor, I think should call animal control.

My first time doing Camera Critters in quite a while. They turn 2 today!

Camera Critters - #19

Awhile ago, when my tomato plants were still growing, I went out to pick some. And on the ground, in between the plants, I heard some rustling. I didn't know what it was at first, until I spotted a cute little baby mourning dove.

I ran back in the house to get my camera, and was only able to get this one picture, when it flew up into some bushes. The baby mourning dove really blends in, doesn't he?

Camera Critters #18

My daughter took this shot at the fair she went to a couple of weeks ago on a field trip. She was very excited to watch the horse show. She loves horses and has always wanted to go horseback riding.

Well today she actually gets to try it. Her Girl Scout troop is going horseback riding today! I hope she likes it. Of course she won't look as professional as this girl was on the horse.

Camera Critters - Country Cows

I've mentioned before how we used to live in the country. And that it was in a home that was in my family for almost 100 yrs. Well it is actually only about a 25 minute drive from where I live now. Sometimes when we happen to be in that area we will drive by our old house. Except it isn't anything like what it used to be. Instead of an old country home and 7 acres of land, it now has 3 huge houses on it.

One thing that has remained the same is across the street, the people who live there still have a huge field and still have their cows. We drove by the other day, and the cows were out. We stopped to look at them and I took some pictures. People driving by were giving us weird looks. I said we look like total city folk who have never seen cows before.

Camera Critteres - Farm Animals

The farm I keep talking about where we get corn and go apple picking, also has some animals. They have a little barn and have a few animals. They have rabbits, cows, etc. I got a few shots of some of them.

The kids like to go up to the barn an look at them whenever we go there. The weird thing is I don't think to many people even know they are there, because they are kind of way up on a hill.
