Seventh Generation "Back To School Kit" Review & Giveaway - ENDED

I recently received some Seventh Generation products from MyBlogSpark, to review and offer in a giveaway. With kids going back to school soon, it may be the time to start thinking about certain things. Backpacks and pencils are important, but all the germs kids pick up in school is something you may want to think about. That is why Seventh Generation is providing tips from best selling author and pediatrician Dr. Alan Greene. Here are some suggestions from Dr. Alan Greene:

Optimize the immune system

• Reap the benefits of probiotics like those found in yogurt. A recent study showed that children who received enough probiotics daily throughout the cold and flu season had a significant reduction in the number of illnesses they had and, when they did get sick, the symptoms were both milder and didn't last as long.
• Be sure your child is getting plenty of vitamin D from the sun, from food, or from a supplement.
• Build a strong foundation. Good food, good sleep, and good physical activity all help the immune system to flourish.

Be wise about reducing unnecessary exposure to harmful germs

• Teach children the key times to clean their hands in the classroom. The most important times include after sneezing, coughing or using the restroom, upon leaving "high-risk" places (recess, naptime, play stations) and before meals or snacks.
• Sixty percent of teachers surveyed said that they request that parents donate disinfecting wipes to the classroom. Seventh Generation´s disinfecting wipes kill 99.99% of germs* naturally using the active ingredient thyme, a component of thyme oil which is derived from the herb thyme.
• Stress the importance of not touching their eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
• Demonstrate to your children how to cover their mouth and nose for every cough and sneeze. This simple maneuver has spectacular results in decreasing the spread of viruses and bacteria floating about the room, waiting to be inhaled.

*Refer to disinfecting product labels for full details.

I was excited to try out these products. I cleaned my bathroom with some of them. I really liked the smell of the multi-surface cleaner and disinfecting wipes. It is lemongrass & thyme. It reminded me of my garden when I grew some thyme.

Win it: One lucky reader will win the Seventh Generation "Back to School Kit" which includes everything shown above.

Mandatory Entry: YOU MUST DO THIS FIRST or all other entries will be DELETED! Please tell me a way you keep your household clean during the school year.

Betty Crocker Mississippi Mud Supreme Bars Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

I received Betty Crocker Mississippi Mud Supreme Bars from MyBlogSpark to review and offer in a giveaway.

Here is some information about the product:

Get ready to wow them with new Betty Crocker Mississippi Mud Supreme Bars - a decadent, down-south dessert that nobody will believe came from a box!

With layers of chocolate cookie crumbs sprinkled over mini marshmallows in a chewy chocolate center and a crunchy chocolate cookie crust, this brand new recipe is sure to impress friends and family. Betty Crocker Mississippi Mud Supreme Bars provide an out-of-the-box flavor, with in-the-box convenience. You don´t have to go to Mississippi to snag the mix for these delicious bars; Betty Crocker makes it easy to make a tasty treat anytime, anywhere.

My take on the product:

The Betty Crocker Mississipi Mud Supreme Bars were fun to make. They were fairly easy to make too. Besides the mix, you need 3 tsp. water, 1/2 a stick of butter for the crust and a 1/2 a stick of butter to add to the mix and 1 egg. You make a chocolate crumb crust for the bottom, put the bar mix on top of that, and then put more of the crust on top.

They came out delicious! And are so chocolaty, and the mini marshmallows add a nice surprise too. My son especially liked them.

Win it: One lucky reader will win a "Delicious Dessert" prize pack that includes a box of the new Betty Crocker Mississippi Mud Supreme Bars and an 8x8 metal baking pan. (pictured below)

Mandatory Entry: Tell me about an upcoming event or gathering at which you would most like to share Betty Crocker Mississippi Mud Supreme Bars.

The purpose of this prize pack is to share the snacks with the man in your life and see who has a sweet tooth or likes to indulge in salty snacks. These new snacks from General Mills can be found  exclusively at convenience stores.

My take on the prize pack:

Here is  how the snacks, t-shirt and travel mug were divided up at my house. My son got the t-shirt, my husband took the travel mug, my daughter took both Cocoa Puff treats, my son ate both Nature Valley bars, and my husband and I both tried the Bugles Hot Buffalo.

My daughter really liked the Cocoa Puff treats (she ate one so far) they are really big in size and look very chocolaty. My son loved the Nature Valley Granola Bars, he never had chocolate ones before but he seemed to really like them. My husband and I both over the course of two days ate one bag of the Bugles Hot Buffalo snacks. They are not what I'm used to when it comes to Bugles. They are very hot! If you like hot & spicy snacks these are for you!

Win It!: One lucky reader will win the General Mills Sweet & Salty Prize Pack. This includes a Nature Valley coffee travel mug and a Bugles t-shirt, as well as two samples of each snack as described above. Sample of prize pack is also pictured below:
