Back from camping
Hey guys. We went camping for a few days on the Columbus Day weekend.
We had a good time. And I can't believe how many people actually were there. The place was full. More then they even had in the middle of the summer. We went in August, and there hardly was any one there.
Well anyway, remember I had said my son wanted to rent a kayak - well when we went to do that they said these kind they have you are sitting in a bunch of water, they kayak sinks in so your bottom half is emerged. Being October and the water is pretty cold, it's not a good time of year for that. Hopefully next Summer he definitely will have to try that.
So instead we rented some paddle boats. They kind you peddle with your feet. My daughter really wanted to try that. They could have used some boat covers on them though. My son's and mine was filled with water. The kid who worked there had to tip the whole thing over. I felt bad for this kid, because he said he had hurt his back in a football game the night before. So he was really having a hard time with it. My son helped him out as best he could.
Once we got going we had a fun time. My daughter especially loved the paddle boats. I'll try to post some pictures in a little bit of our trip!

Camping Again
We are planning another camping trip. I think we may go on Columbus Day weekend. It should be fun.
We had found a state park they we really like. So we are going to go back there. It probably will be a lot cooler temperatures, at that time though. One thing about the state parks around here is they don't allow swimming after labor day. And when we went there last time, we found out after 6 pm you aren't supposed to go swimming either.
It seems kind of strict. Were we used to live you could swim whenever you wanted and there hardly was even a lifeguard sometimes. Which I guess it is for your own safety the rules they have here, but when you're camping you kind of want to go swimming whenever you feel like it. Even though in October it could be cooler, I know sometimes you get the "Indian summer" type weather. But I guess we won't be able to go swimming.
Well, we will be able to do some other fun things. Like, fishing. Going to do tons of fishing, because that is a really good time of year for that.
Last time we were there my son wanted to go kayaking, by himself. I'm kind of nervous of that. But as long as they have life jackets that he can wear, then I guess it should be ok. Maybe someone else should go with him too, just to have a partner to keep an eye on each other. Then I think I would feel better about it.

WW - Go Camping Instead
Last month we almost sold this:
I had it on Craigslist and had a lot of interest in it. We had some offers. I began to doubt my decision. My daughter didn't want to sell it. We decided to pull the plug on all of this.
And we decided to go camping for the first time in 2 yrs. instead.
The campground had an archery class. The kids loved it:
My son said he did it a few yrs ago in gym class, it was my daughter's first time. An hour or so later she actually got a bulls eye! (can you see it?)
rented a boat:

WW #115 "Some Pictures From Camping Trip"
Last week: July 3-8 we went camping. I have lots of pictures to show. But will just show 3 for now.
One thing we did while camping was drive the Mount Washington Auto Road. You may have heard of it it. Mount Washington is in New Hampshire and is famous for bitter cold, dense fog, record winds - and boasts the "World's Worst Weather."
Well the day we went was no exception. Unfortunately it was very windy and foggy at the top. On a good day, you supposedly can see all the New England States and Canada from the Summit.
Here's my son at the Summit:
My daughter, who looks happy here, but was scared to death on the drive up the mountain:
And my husband, because I never get pictures of him:
Note the 1st & 3rd picture I made a little clearer on Picnik, because they were pretty foggy.

WW #63 "4th Of July Camping"
If anyone noticed my lack of posting for about 6 days, it was because I was on my annual 4th of July camping trip. It's the one camping trip a year where my sister and her boyfriend come with us too. We went from July 2 through the 6th.
The weather could have been better. Lots of rain, one day we even had hail! But we got some sun in spots and Sunday and Monday turned out to be pretty nice. Here's some pictures from our trip to Crawford Notch Campground in NH.

Visit Wordless Wednesday , 5 minutes for Mom, Wordful Wednesday, Mostly Wordless Wednesday at Ordinary and Awesome & Mom Dot for more participants.

WW #60 "Camping Pictures"
Here is a short slide show of some pictures I took on our camping trip. We went camping last Friday-Sunday. Friday and Saturday were beautiful. We were able to go swimming and have a lot of fun doing other stuff. Unfortunately, Sat. night it started raining around 8 pm, into most of the day Sunday. We usually like to hang around Sunday a little, but we had to cut it short due to the rain. We still had a really good time.

A Thousand Words Thursday - Camping
We're going on a little camping trip, starting tomorrow through Sunday. We go a lot to a place that's only about 45 minutes from our house. It made me think of how every year I get a picture of the kids up on the lifeguard chair.
Here's one I found that actually says its from 2005. Wow the kids have grown so much since then.

The 6th Picture Meme
I stole got this from Catnip & Coffee blog. This is the 6th picture meme. All you have to do is go to your Sixth Picture Folder then pick your Sixth Picture. Post that picture and then tell the details of the picture.
Above is my 6th picture in my 6th picture folder. This was taken in 2004, but the thing I don't get is I'm 100 percent postive it wasn't taken in January! Unlike the date showing in the corner of the picture. Must have been set wrong. This was taken sometime in the summer when we were camping. That's the two kids sharing a seat! In the background is our tent. When we were still camping with a tent. Now I'm happy we have a pop up camper though.
The kids look so little! It's nice to look at old pictures and see how much the kids have grown. Hey if you want to

Highlights of My Recent Camping Trip
Here's a run down of my recent camping trip to Greenfield State Park, NH
Monday: Raining when we left around noon time. Arrived at campground and was still raining. Set up everything, in the rain. Stopped raining. Made lunch and then was not raining when we decided to go down to the camp store and look at the beach. Store was closed. Looked at beach and decided it was nice enough for kids to go in. Went back and changed into bathing suits (not me - lol.) Kids splashed around in water for about an hour. Went back and was around dinner time, still wasn't raining. After dinner wanted to start a campfire. Started pouring! My husband tried to get a fire going. The wood was wet to begin with and was no use because it was raining to much. Everyone went to bed early. Rained buckets all night! Didn't sleep good because the rain hitting the camper can be very loud.
Tuesday: Woke up after a somewhat sleepless night. Was cloudy but not raining. Had breakfast, I think it started drizzling. Cleared up enough to go to beach later. Kids were able to swim for awhile. Decided to go back up and get lunch. After lunch seemed like the rain was over, nice and sunny. The kids and I rode our bikes down to the beach, while my husband drove the car with all our stuff in it. My husband and I were going to fish, while the kids swam. Everything seemed fine. All of a sudden I heard rain coming, you could here it coming towards you from across the woods. Next thing you know it is pouring! We had tons of stuff spread out on the beach. We ran for the car! I only carried two fishing poles, the kids ran for the car. There was thunder & lightening. My daughter is very afraid of it. My husband had no choice but to go back and get the rest of the stuff. My daughter was crying not just because she was scared of the thunder & lightening but because she didn't want her Daddy to get hurt. He had to go back and get the bikes and she was like just leave the bikes. I don't need my bike, she said I just need my Daddy! He survived and got everything to the car. But was drenched. It slowed down eventually but rained a little for the remainder of the day.
Wednesday: Woke up to partly cloudy skies. Only rained a little in the afternoon. And at least the sun was out off and on! Went swimming most of the day. Only in the low 70's all day. The kids didn't mind, but in order for me to go swimming I need it a lot hotter!
Thursday: The best out of all the days. Sunny and nice all day. One thing happened Thursday that was kind of funny. Thursday night around 1 AM I heard something out side the camper digging around. I woke up my husband who then carefully proceeded to check outside. He got the flashlight and was looking around when he saw some Raccoons! Now mind you we keep some food in what we like to call the "Food tent." We've been doing it for years, we have a little almost like kids tent and we store our food in there. The only time we don't is when we went to places that said there where "Bears." But at Greenfield State park, there is no worry of bears, so we always keep the food in a tent. But this time some Raccoons discovered the tent and actually broke through the top of the tent and were inside eating our food! I guess not only do they like bread, but they appear to like marshmallow's! Because they ate a bunch of them. So my husband had to shoo them off, which wasn't easy and he really didn't want to mess with them to much. But they finally went away. So luckily it was our last night there because the stupid Raccoons ate a bunch of our food and luckily it wasn't at the beginning of the week when there would have been more food to eat. (Also that's the end of the "food tent." Will be keeping the food in the car from now on!)
Friday: Pack up and go home! Sometimes we will get everything packed and go to the beach for a little while on the last day. But usually the kids are pretty tired by that time, and just want to go home. So this time they didn't even want to go to the beach they just wanted to go home.
A few other things we did there: fishing, every morning go down to a pond behind our site and catch frogs! Lots of frogs down there, you can catch them in a net and then realease them. Rented a canoe, and went around the Lake (Otter Lake it's called), fished off the canoe. Picked alot of blueberries. The bushes there were loaded with them, seems like a great year for blueberries!
Unfortunately the weather wasn't as great as it could have been, but we still had a pretty good time. And figures this coming week looks great - in the 80's and no rain. Oh well - that's camping! (Below are a few pictures I took)

Back from Camping
Got back from camping earlier today. I am too tired right now to get into to many details about it. Will update about it as soon as I have at least one good nights sleep at home!
But in the mean time Yenzz from See N Read tagged me again for another tag:
I am: a nice person
I think: I'm too sensitive
I know: a lot about nothing
I have: two great kids
I wish: I had more money
I hate: shopping
I miss: my friend
I fear: ??
I hear: the news
I smell: brownies
I crave: spaghetti & meatballs
I search: information
I wonder: if my kids are happy
I regret: not living to the fullest every day
I love: my husband
I ache: today
I am not: mean
I believe: in love
I dance: hardly ever
I sing: badly
I cry: when I think of loved ones who have died
I fight: hardly ever
I win: never
I lose: a lot
I never: go to sleep without brushing my teeth
I always: say I love you to my kids
I confuse: when I try new things
I listen: to the radio in the car
I can usually be found: on the computer
I am scared: of lightening
I need: more money
I am happy about: a lot of things
I imagine: I need to do a lot of laundry!
Yenzz also gave me the following awards:

Thanks again Yenzz. And I promise to get a post up with some pictures from my camping trip up soon.

Camping Again

I will be camping again starting Monday - until Friday. I feel like that's all we've been doing. But school starts in only 16 days. I think it's too early! Aug. 26th my kids start. What happened to after labor day?
But anyway we are camping again. This time at Greenfield State Park, NH. This is our favorite campground. And we go there at least once a year. I'll have some pictures when I get back and do a more in depth post on it when I get back.
Let's just hope the weather holds out. Please!!! Just a little sun would be nice. We have had so much rain here it's pathetic. I keep checking the weather channel, and on my computer, and the forecast is not very promising. It shows T-Showers, Scattered T-Showers, and Isolated T-Showers for pretty much the whole time!
Oh well we'll see what happens. Maybe it won't be so bad. Or maybe we'll be home early - lol. See you Friday (or sooner - weather depending.)

Great Camping Trip in Crawford Notch, NH
Came back late Sunday afternoon from our camping trip. Sorry didn't post anything sooner. One thing about camping is when you get home, you need a few days recovery time. And also lots of putting away of stuff and laundry, etc.
But anyway we had a great time camping this past weekend. We went to a really nice campground, called Crawford Notch General Store and Campground. It was our first time there. When you first try somewhere new, you never know what to expect. But we were pleasantly surprised by this campground. It was great. And believe me I've been to some that are less than great.
We usually like to go to State Parks, which I usually really love. But once in awhile, like this time we tried a "private" campground. It was my husband, 2 kids, me and my sister and her boyfriend on our "annual 4th of July camping trip." I like to go a lot during the summer, but it's the one trip were my sister can usually go.
Crawford Notch, NH is a very interesting place. There was a lot of history to it. Crawford Notch is the steep and narrow gorge of the Saco River in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, located almost entirely within the town of Hart's Location.
Interesting facts I found out about the town Hart's Location is that there is only like 40 residents in the whole town! The General Store on this campground has been running since sometime in the '50's and was the first location to get electricity in the town. They didn't even get electricity until 1970!
Another interesting spot we visited was a historical site called The Willey House. The site is at the foot of a mountain and the story is of a family called the Willey's. Back in 1826 there was an avalanche. The family escaped the house because they thought they would have a better chance of surviving, only to have all of them killed in the avalanche. And the house remained standing! It was very interesting and I love stuff like that. Read more here if your interested: Willey Family.
There is many hiking trails in the area. We tried one which was very cool. The mountains were beautiful! The swimming is in the river. The campground was located right on the Saco River. There was a very cool "swimming hole" in the campground. The water was extremely cold though! But very clean!
There is also Black Bear in the area, and you have to be aware of keeping your food in your car, and your trash put away at night. We didn't see any, but still tried to be careful. There are also lots of Moose in the area. I would have liked to see a Moose. Unfortunately I didn't see one, but my sister and her boyfriend did on their way there! Lucky them.
If your ever in the NH area I really recommend the Crawford Notch General Store and Campground. We liked it so much we are thinking about going back at the end of this month.
That's some of the highlights from my camping trip. Below are some pictures I took. In an upcoming post I may post some tips on camping.
