Creating a Bird Sanctuary

Hi guys! Remember my post about my bird feeder? Well that is going really well actually. On top of the hanging/red barn - squirrel proof bird feeder, we also added another little one. This one is sitting up on a pole, and we also bought one of those squirrel baffles. So I haven't seen a squirrel on them at all.

We are getting a lot of birds visiting our bird feeders! A great variety so far too. Like cardinals, morning doves, junco's etc. Next I need to get another hummingbird feeder. Since, as I mentioned something destroyed the last one I had. I want to pick out one that is a little sturdier then the last one. Not just some cheap plastic one.

I love hummingbirds and they start coming around again in a few months. So I want to be ready for them when they do. I would love to get a beautiful one inspired by an Asian Garden. Like the one I saw at YardEnvy.com  It is made out of recycled glass so the squirrels won't be able to eat through this one.

Next, I think I want to get a bird bath. I was recently reading something, on The Penn State Extension, that talked about the importance of bird baths, when attracting birds to your backyard. Many people forget is that not only do they need bird food, but they also need water too. I would love to get a nice bird bath for all my feathered friends. There are many different kinds of bird baths. I read that they actually like ones that have a rougher surface to them. And they require just a little maintenance. Like for instance you should probably change the water in them daily. And in winter months birds also need water, probably more so. Sometimes the water may freeze. But it would be nice to see them drinking at a bird bath!

Another important thing to consider is plants in your yard for the birds. The plants, trees, bushes and shrubs in your yard can do many things for birds. Not only can they provide shelter, but they can also provide food and even nesting materials for birds. And getting back to the hummingbirds, besides hummingbird feeders, there are also many plants that will attract them too. Hummingbirds love hanging baskets full of flowers. There are certain flowers that attract them, and I really want to plant some this summer! I can not wait to get started on continuing creating my bird sanctuary!

Ergonomic Pen - "UGLee Pen" Review + Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Hi guys - I've got a review and giveaway for you all today! It is for an awesome ergonomic pen.

Here is some information on the UGLee Pen:

Product Description
The UGLee Pen is good for everyone who writes (even just a grocery list), and is especially helpful to people who experience pain and discomfort when writing, for example those with arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc., and for all children who are learning to write and are developing fine motor skills. It is also helpful for special-needs children who find holding a pen or pencil properly difficult. And for high-school and college students who have to take copious notes, this pen helps keep hands and fingers from cramping.

My review:
I received 3 pens from the company, to test out. I think all the ink is black, but the color of the outside of the pens are different. (red, blue or white)

I figured the best people to try out these pens - were my kids. Since they write all day at school -it would be good for them to use them. And my daughter had said her hand hurts usually using other pens.

My daughter just came home from school and she said she really liked the pen. She also said her friends saw her using the pen and thought at first it was "weird looking." But then when they tried it they wanted it! Here is a quote from my daughter:
"It's very comfortable (pen) and easy to write with. And writes really smoothly."

Now my son wants to try one! If you would like to try these for yourself visit the website! And enter my giveaway too!

One winner will win 3 of the UGLee Pens. (colors my vary)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I got a new product to review. If is from the company Best Skins Ever.

Product Description
Best Skins Ever sells clear, invisible protective skins designed to fit all different models of cell phones, tablets, and electronic devices. Our products are scratch resistant and keep your device protected and safe! Visit our website to see all of the phone, tablets, laptops and more skins we have inventory on.

My review:

If you are looking for a skin for one of your devices then you should shop on this website  They have lots of skins for everything from iphones, ipads, and all different tablets too.

My daughter wanted one for her iPod 5th generation. She got a new ipod for Christmas, and didn't have a skin for it. Since she uses it 24/7 it is important to protect it from scratches and everything. Best Skins Ever also has really reasonable prices.

For only $8.99 you get a top and bottom skin for the iPod. That is a great price!

I would rate this company on:

St. Patrick's Day shirt review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Hi readers! I was asked to do a review of a funny St. Patrick's day shirt. If you go to the website you can find a lot of funny t-shirts. Some are more adult appropriate if you know what I mean. My daughter wanted a shirt. And she could not wear some of them to school that I saw on the website so she spotted this one pictured below:

This is a cute black women's t-shirt. That reads: "This Is My St. Patrick's Day Shirt." Isn't that cute? I should have maybe gotten it in a size large though. I got a medium - they did say it would be form fitting. Which it is and since it is cotton - I maybe shouldn't have put it in the dryer.

But if you would like a St. Patrick's Day shirt, visit the website they have a lot of cool ones in various colors and sizes to pick from!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Job for 10 Years

A couple of weeks ago, a delivery from Edible Arrangements came. It was for my husband's 10th year at his job.

Which was nice of his company to send that to him. This job also symbolizes our move from NH to VA. His company relocated to Virginia so we moved down here in 2011. And about 600 miles away from our families. But in the economy and other factors at the time, so far I think we made the right decision.

Here's some pics of the cool Edible Arrangement he got:

My Review:

This book is really great for any parent to read. This will give you strategies on how to cope with kids stress. This book is helpful for parents of all ages. I have seen parenting books before just deal with younger children. Well being a Mom of two teens I has happy to see that this book had some insights and tips for dealing with tweens/teens.

One thing I read geared to parents of teens that really resonated with me was how when talking to teens - they can really so to say "check out." As in as soon as you start talking to them or asking them to do something they just tone you out. They see it as nagging and you don't even get to what you want to say to them, because they already aren't listening.

So according to "Stress Free Kids," one thing that you could do to keep the lines of communication open, is write them a letter. This could be a stress-free way to communicate with your teen. There is an outline of how you could phrase the letter, in the book. And you could write down the child's responsibilities in the letter and let them know the rewards for doing them or the consequences for not. This seems like a great way to get through to your teen in a simple way, that they can read and will be more concise for them! I may try this out on my own daughter!

Another interesting thing that the book points out is that parents own stress can lead to their children's stress. So if parents are relaxed it will help their children relax also. There are many strategies that parents can incorporate into their own lives that will help them de-stress, and in turn help the children.

I would recommend this book to any parent with kids of any age, because this covers a wide range of ages and situations. The exercises and advice in this book can help you and your children to lead a more stress free life!

Purchase - You can get this book on Amazon.com - paperback $12.96 kindle $9.99

Win it! One winner will receive their own (paperback) copy of "Stress Free Kids." Enter using Rafflecopter below:
