Eggland's Best & Susan G. Komen for the Cure Giveaway

Part of being the “best” is doing “good” and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October,
Eggland’s Best (EB) will be supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

From September 15th to November 15th, Eggland’s Best will be turning their distinctive red “EB”
stamp into a pink “EB” alongside a Susan G. Komen for the Cure running ribbon logo.
Eggland’s Best will also be pledging $50,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which will help
expand the foundation’s mission to discover and deliver the cure for breast cancer across the globe.

  • Consumers can do their part to help find a cure for breast cancer by supporting products that contribute to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.  For example, Eggland’s Best will be donating $50,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and, from September 15th to November 15th, Eggland’s Best eggs is turning their distinctive red “EB” stamp into a pink “EB” alongside a Susan G. Komen for the Cure running ribbon.

  • In the past year, with the help of companies including Eggland’s Best, Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been able to invest an additional $75 million in research, as well as provide more than 600,000 women with free screenings and over 100,000 with treatment assistance

  • Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the US, other than skin cancer and second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer

  • Right now there are more than 2½ million breast cancer survivors in the United States

  • Although you can’t control your family history, a healthy lifestyle is one of the best defenses against breast cancer

    • Exercise may help reduce breast cancer risk.  Research suggests four or more hours of exercise weekly may help reduce the risk of certain cancers, such as breast cancer – that’s just 35 minutes a day
    • When trimming calories, it’s important to make sure you don’t skimp on good nutrition. For only 70 calories, Eggland's Best eggs supply a perfect portion of complete protein, while providing two times more Vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids, as well as 10 times more Vitamin E compared to ordinary eggs. Preliminary evidence suggests that, as part of a healthy diet, vitamin D and choline can help to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Eggland’s Best eggs are an excellent source of these nutrients, containing double the vitamin D of ordinary eggs in addition to  25% of the daily requirement of choline.

I am so happy to support the cause by participating in the Part of Being the Best is Doing Good program, helping to spread the word about the EB/Susan G. Komen partnership and “pink ribbon” eggs.

Win it!

Hearts For Hearts Girls Doll Review & Giveaway

Changing the World One Heart at a Time! That is the goal of the new Hearts For Hearts Girls doll line and fashion collection from Playmates Toys. The collection features six dolls from around the world, each with an inspiring story to share.

The authentically dressed and lifelike dolls each represent a girl who is working to change her community in ways that are unique to her home country. Included with each doll are a friendship bracelet and a story booklet that explains how these multicultural girls live and contribute to their families, communities, and culture. Each doll also comes with a special code that unlocks a free membership to the kid-safe Hearts for Hearts Girls Website, which features:
  • Additional information about each of the Hearts For Hearts Girls and the countries in which they live

  • Educational activities and lively games that are fun and rich in culture

  • Intriguing stories about real girls who are making a difference

  • While all girls are welcome to visit the site, the code unlocks access to additional features, including a larger array of games and a "myHeart" page

To further bring to light each Hearts For Hearts Girls´ culture, additional outfits are available for the dolls, so that your little girl can envision her doll´s story as she plays and changes the doll´s attire.

Additionally, through a partnership with World Vision3, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Hearts For Hearts Girls doll is donated to programs that support girls in that doll´s country. Whether it´s malaria nets in Africa, schoolbooks in Asia, or food supplies in the United States, these programs help girls to thrive and succeed.

Help to make a difference one doll at a time by reviewing your very own doll from the Hearts For Hearts Girls line which debuted in stores this fall! In addition, you and your readers can visit http://bit.ly/ShopH4HG to purchase a Hearts For Hearts Girl doll for a loved one today!

Meet the six Hearts For Hearts Girls:
  • Meet Consuelo from Mexico City. Colorful and warm, Consuelo provides aid to hungry children who are homeless and live on the streets near her parents´ bakery.

  • Meet Lilian of Belarus. Determined Lilian provides aid to girls whose parents must find work in the big city and are forced to leave their children with orphanages.

  • Meet Dell from the heart of Kentucky´s Appalachian Mountains. Dell creates music and knitwear to share with others in need of warm clothing.

  • Meet Rahel of Ethiopia. Rahel, who dreams of becoming a doctor so that she can make a real difference for people in her region, journeys with her family into the wilderness of Ethiopia to help bring back aid to her community.

  • Meet Tipi from Laos. Based on a real girl who shares her art and storytelling with others through dancing, drawing, and puppetry, Tipi leads her school in a mural contest in hopes of winning much-needed books for her class.

  • Meet Nahji who hails from Assam, India. Brave Nahji breaks tradition to bring courage and education to the girls who work in the tea fields of India.

My review: If you've read my blog before - you may know I have an 11 year old daughter. And she really loves dolls. We had been seeing some Ads for the Hearts For Hearts girl dolls - and she had wanted one. So she was really exited when I told her she would be getting one. She received Lilian and she was really happy! She cannot wait to try some games online - hopefully this weekend.

Here's a picture of her with her doll (my daughter is also wearing the bracelet it comes with)

Sister Update

Credit: Free photos from acobox.com

Thank you to all my Blogging & Facebook friends for your support. During the past few days.

My sister made it out of the surgery ok. It was a long day. Didn't get over until about 11 pm. The Doctor told my family that the tumor was the size of the palm of his hand. Which is pretty big for a tumor, I guess. She is doing well - and may even get to go home over the weekend. The miracle of the human body!

Now she just has to wait and see what happens from here  - if they got it all - cancerous - more treatment needed, etc. But for now so far so good.

(* I used this photo - because my daughter and I saw three deer in the woods behind our house - they night she was getting the surgery - which I took as a good sign)

PLEASE PRAY!!!!

A sudden occurrence that has come about in my family. My sister (who is like my BFF) has to have brain surgery!  I just found out about it Saturday night!

She is having a 5 hr. operation tomorrow! I am so worried and upset about this. And it is also hard because I just moved and am like 600 miles away.

Please if you can pray for my sister or say a positive thought for her. Thanks!

Here is a pic of me and her. I just opened up the first photo album I came across & saw this pic. It's her (on left - me on right). Literally like I think 25 years ago, when we where bridesmaids in our other sister's wedding.

Gold Medal White Whole Wheat Flour Giveaway - ENDED!

With Americans looking for ways to add more whole grain to their diets, it´s the simple choices that can make a difference, like making the effortless switch to new Gold Medal® White Whole Wheat flour. Available in grocery stores this September, Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour can help you bake it great with the goodness of whole grains!

From breakfast to dessert and everything in between, find classic recipes that use Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour at www.bettycrocker.com and make adding whole grain to your daily routine even easier, without sacrificing on flavor.

Unlike most whole wheat flours that are made from hard red spring wheat, Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour is made with
hard white spring wheat.  So, it´s whole grain, but with a similar taste and texture to all-purpose white flour. Perfect for family favorite
recipes like breads, pizza dough, cookies, muffins and brownies, Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour bakes up golden and has a milder flavor
than baked goods made with regular whole wheat flour.

Start by simply substituting whole wheat white flour for 25 to 50 percent of the recipe´s flour content.
You may wish to add an extra tablespoon or two of the liquid used in the recipe when substituting Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour
or decrease the amount of flour by one to two tablespoon for recipes that call for all-purpose flour.

Win it!

TracFone - Great For Your Family

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TracFone for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Now that the kids are going back to school - they might need some cell phones. I have really been considering getting them each a cell phone. I think it would be great to get them a TracFone. Just like other Real TracFone customers I have found out that it has So many features  that I need.

And of course the best part is no contracts. So I won't be tied down to any contract. My kids might really need these phones. Like one thing I am worried about is them missing their busses after school. They may need me to pick them up. Unlike where we used to live, you can't just walk home from school. The schools are a lot further away now. I want them to have some way to contact me if they need to.

Real TracFone customers have found out that there are some great phones to pick from. Maybe they could either get a Motorola phone, or an LG. Or they may even be able to get a blue-tooth enabled phone. Like I've said before TracFone has So many features. One of the other features I really like is the pay as you go part of it. You can even buy minutes online, which is really convenient. I've got to get to the store soon, to pick up a couple of TracFones for the kids!
