Mellow Yellow Monday #15

A touch of yellow! Here is a shot of my sunflower, I'm growing. It is just starting to come out. I will get more shots of it when it fully comes out.

Here is a view of the whole thing, and how tall it is. I am excited about this sunflower. Because, my daughter actually grew it from a seed back in May with her Brownie Troop.

Fantasy Football Time

I'm a total baseball fan. As you probably know from reading my blog. But I know a lot of huge football fans. Especially my brother-in-law. He just loves football.

He has told me about playing some fantasy football in the past. Well I just found out about a great website, I'm excited to tell him about.

It is called WaiverWire. This is a brand new site, that was created by former Wall Street guys. They have a passion for football and were fed up with financial markets, so they got together and came up with an awesome website for fantasy football players.

They have taken what they learned from Wall Street and applied it to WaiverWire. They have taken things such as the format, tools, and techniques for analyzing stocks and applied them to NFL player and fantasy football team analysis.

Here is some things you will receive from WaiverWire to help you win your fantasy league:

  • Fantasy football draft software
  • Fantasy football news
  • Fantasy football analysis
  • Fantasy football forum
  • Fantasy football research
  • Access to over 100 Local NFL team news feeds
  • Fantasy football rankings
  • Fantasy player comparisons
You will find these all in one place, to help you in your totally enjoyment of fantasy football. I can't wait to tell my brother-in-law about this website. I know he's going to love it.

Camera Critters #15

Went to two different beaches recently. Took these shots of some seagulls. One thing I learned is don't feed the seagulls. Even one little crumb, because then they will never leave you alone. And at one point we turned our back and a whole flock of them were attacking our bag of gold fish crackers. I wish I had gotten a picture of that!

WW #70 "Swimming"

The kids love swimming. It doesn't matter where.

Here's one of them at the pond at my mother-in-laws.

One of my daughter swimming at Nantasket Beach, MA. It was a little rainy that day so the picture is a little dreary looking. And I didn't take too many because I was afraid of my camera getting wet.

And some of them boogie boarding at York Beach, ME.

Camera Critters #14

Last week my mother-in-law was away on vacation. She was not able to take her dog where she went. So we went down to watch her dog and cat for a few days. Here's a picture of the dog. His name is Reggie.

She lives right on a pond. Reggie likes to go swimming in the pond.

Also some ducks were sitting on this dock in the pond. Right on a little beach area next to my-mother-in laws house.

Environmentally Friendly Switzerland

I just learned some interesting information about Switzerland. I would like to share with you some valuable facts that I have found out about Switzerland.

First of all, did you know that Switzerland is one of the most environmentally friendly countries in the world? It's true. For one thing Switzerland has taken a tough stance on pollution. They have introduced legislation that will help reduce pollution.

Switzerland charges fees for their water and waste management services. They have also added environmental taxes, which has promoted personal responsibility.

This has made for a very sustainable Switzerland. It has made traveling to Switzerland a Green Fantasy come true. Some things that have made Switzerland a Green Wonderland is, for one train travel is very accessible. They also are a bike friendly nation. There is also many Green friendly hotels and resorts to stay at. And they have an abundance of organic products there.

Traveling in Switzerland is so environmentally friendly. Other countries could really learn a lot from them and how to implement some of their policies. Here is a beautiful picture I found of Thurgau. This is a picture of Thurgau countryside in Spring. Wouldn't you love to travel there to see this? In any season, there is always something to see in Switzerland. Check out their website for more information!

WW #69 "Go Karts"

Last week week we made the mistake volunteered to house/pet sit down my mother-in-laws. Long story. But we did a few fun things while we where there. One was going to a place where we played mini-golf and then my husband and kids went on the Go Karts.

truTV - Actuality TV

This above commercial is so funny. I never really knew what truTV was or that we even got that channel. Until recently when my son started watching it.

While watching it he will talk out loud. My son will make all kinds of statements about what he is watching on truTV. He'll talk back to the TV, saying "no way," or laughing out loud at what is going on. This is called the truTV effect.

One of his favorite shows on truTV is The Smoking Gun Presents. I have to admit I have watched it a few times myself. And found it to be quite funny. They have celebrities such as Danny Bonaduce and Todd Bridges critiquing videos. These videos are so funny, because they are usually of people doing really stupid things. And sometimes are of stupid criminals getting caught doing dumb things. It is really so funny. My son and I are laughing out loud watching this show.

Another show my son likes is Most Daring. These are videos of people who are doing really daring things. It is amazing to watch these videos and see what people can get into. And it is miraculous when the people do these daring things and that they don't really end up getting that hurt. You really have to watch it to see for yourself.

Be warned though the stories are real and the effect is actual. So you may find yourself talking out loud, laughing out loud, yelling at the TV or hitting the person next to you in reaction to watching a truTV video.

Mellow Yellow Monday

A cute yellow dragon. He was purchased at least 3 years ago. Last year he went missing. He was found again deflated and somewhat dirty in a cellar closet.

My question: Do you have a garbage disposal?

My answer: No. I haven't had one since I lived at home with my mother about 16 yrs ago. Recently while visiting my mother, I realized how nice they are. And I really want one.

Camera Critters - Cougar

I took these pictures of a cougar or mountain lion. As far as I know a cougar is the same thing as a mountain lion.

We went to the Stone Zoo in Massachusetts a few months ago. Now sadly I have heard on the news that this zoo along with the Franklin Park Zoo in Massachusetts may be closed. I remember going to the Stone Zoo since I was like 3 years old. I really hope they can save these zoos. Since I don't know what may happen to all the animals.

My question: While reading a book do you ever skip ahead to see what is going to happen? Or even read the last page?

My answer: I never used to do that. But I don't know what it is lately, but I have been skipping ahead to see what will happen in the story. I've got to stop doing that.

WW #67 "My Mom & Me"

My husband is on a business trip this week. (boo-hoo) So while he is away, the kids and I are visiting my mother. While she was at work, I was digging around some of the old photos. I found this one.

It says on the back it was taken in 1975. We were at some kind of outdoor fair or something. That is my mom looking at the jewelry. And me on the side eating my ice cream! I'm I guess about 7 yrs. old here.

Get Set For College

This post was sponsored by Sears. All the opinions are mine.

It's almost back to school time. And one aspect that is often overlooked by some is college students. Well Sears has a whole site called CampusReady. This is designed with the college student in mind. Sears will help get the college student ready for school.

The site will help create a dorm room that is perfect for every student. The site is broken into different categories that will help in the decision process of shopping for college.

First is: Shop by dorm room. This will give you different ideas on the kind of dorm room you may want to create. Such as Funky Femme, Haute Couture, or All Around Athlete. Each different kind of dorm room then shows what it would look like and what products you will need for it. You can then click on the products and view them.

You can then shop by Suite of coordinating dorm room products and design ideas. This will allow you to select an item that you like. Then Sears will automatically display other products that coordinate with it. This is a great organizing tool.

Next you can use the Shopping checklist. Sears has provided a list of things that college students will need. This is a great way to get ideas on what a college student will definitely need. You can then check off the items you will need.

Sears has also organized a List of everything your child will need for their first home away from home. This interactive list is a must for parents and their college students. The list is displayed in 5 categories of eating, sleeping, studying, playing, and cleaning.

There is also Links to categories of clothing college students will need. This is great to find all the clothes they will need for college life. And they will give you ideas on Apparel must haves.

Financial tips and Financial planning tips are also provided on this site. The "Money Sense" tab will give students lots of ideas on the importance of creating a budget. There is also a lot of great ideas on how students can save money on books, clothes, food and more!

Also check out CampusReady on Facebook. There you can become a fan of their app, and really get full use of the site.

With college tuition costs on the rise, Sears is giving college students a chance to win money towards college tuition from Sears and Upromise! They will be awarding a total of $25,000. Upromise members are automatically entered with a sears.com purchase through Upromise.com, or enter free at sears.com/campusready. See sears.com/campusready for full rules and complete details.

Need A Moving Company?

If you are in need of moving services, then ABF U-Pack Moving is a great service to look into. What they do is they deliver a trailer or ReloCube (moving container) to your location. Then it is up to you to pack and load the trailer.

Then ABF picks it up and delivers it to your new location. And you do the unloading. Their prices are comparable to rental truck prices. But the good thing about ABF is they do all of the driving for you. And they are less expensive then a full service mover.

ABF U-Pack also has a great standing with the Better Business Bureau. And they have great ratings with consumer opinion sites.
