Tell Santa What You Want For Christmas

I Just told Santa what I wanted for Christmas. And I didn't even leave the house to do it. I did it on the a website for Ceiva Digital Photo Frames.

This is a really cool website where you can upload your picture and then Santa actually receives it in his workshop! You also tell Santa and his elf your name and what you want for Christmas. Then your picture shows up on the picture frame in his workshop. Santa then checks his book, and your name appears in it, with what you asked for. He checks with his elves if you will get what you want. He even calls out your name! It was very cool. My daughter is not home this weekend but I plan on showing her this cool website when she gets home. I think she'll really get a kick out of it.

You can actually purchase a Ceiva Digital Frame. And when you upload a photo from your computer or cell phone, it will appear on the photo frame! So if grandparents, have it at their house you can send them pictures of the kids right to their photo frame! Or any one else who would love to get your pictures. This is so cool!

There is also a contest called Got a Wish Sweeepstakes! Where 29 winners will be chosen, one each day of the contest. And there will be a cash prize of $500.00 per winner. So check out this cool website, frame and contest!

Photo Hunters - Metal

Today's Photo Hunters theme is "metal." Here is a carousel that is made out of metal. This is at a place called "Fun World." In the city where I live. It is an arcade place where they also have birthday parties. Both my kids had parties there a few years ago.

This metal carousel is actually really cool. It is a 2 level carousel! You can go up some stairs and go on the top to ride it too. That is my son & sister in the picture riding it at my daughter's birthday party two years ago.

Started My Christmas Shopping

Well I officially started my Christmas shopping today. And I didn't leave the house to do it. I know many of you have already started and some are already even done. But I refuse to even start until after Thanksgiving. So I just ordered something for my daughter that I know she wants online.

I may go out tomorrow to buy a few things, even though I really am not into shopping in all the crowds! Maybe I'll just do some more shopping online. It is so much easier! I may order my brother-in-law and nephew some funny t shirts. They always get a kick out of the shirts with funny pictures and sayings on them! And it's just as easy to do that from the comfort of home!

How far along are you in your Christmas shopping?

A Few Pictures from Thanksgiving

Here's a few pictures that I took yesterday. I didn't take that many because I got so wrapped up in all the activity. I forgot to take as many as I wanted to. The kids went to the park up the street from my mother's and I took some pictures of that. But those are on my son's camera. So don't have those right now. But here are a few I took mostly of the kids stuffing their faces with dessert.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Blog Pictures | acobox.com
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! This weekend my husband and I will have the whole thing to ourselves! That's because my kids are down their Grandmother's for the whole weekend. This is a tradition that has been going on for a few years. We go to my mom's for Thanksgiving and then we leave the kids there!

They have a good time because my sister lives their too. So they my sister and mother take them to the movies, out to eat, and whatever else they do. So the kids have a fun. And then me and my husband can relax at home and do whatever we want too! So it's one of our true times a year alone without the kids!

We really enjoy it, although by the end of the weekend I start missing the kids! Well hope everyone else has a great weekend!

Four Foods on Friday 57

If you want to play along visit the blog: Fun, Crafts and Recipes. Where questions are posted weekly. Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are this week’s four questions.

#1. What’s your favorite carbonated beverage?

Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, Diet Orange

#2. What’s your favorite spicy food?

I don't like spicy foods

#3. How do you handle hot dishes? Oven mitt, pot holder, towel?

Pot holders

#4. Ice cream. How do you like yours?

Believe it or not I'm not a huge fan of ice cream. I literally will get the kiddie size if I get it somewhere and in a sugar cone, usually coffee ice cream. I do like the half chocolate half vanilla twist you can get a Dairy Queen.

Hope these aren't to boring answers!

Heroes at Home from Sears

Christmas will soon be upon us. People will be shopping for presents soon, or maybe you have already started. Or for those real go getter's you may be already done. Well maybe before you finish your shopping you could consider helping people in need.

This is the season of giving after all and there is a program called Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry. Sears has established a Heroes at Home program to provide support to military service members, veterans, and their families. Sears has been working with various non-profit organizations. And this year they are expanding their program to allow Americans to help out too.

If you want to help you can donate to Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry and Sears will use the donations to purchase non-tax deductible gift cards for deserving families. Isn't that what Christmas is all about? Giving to others who are in need. And who better to help then the men and woman and their families who have helped us with their sacrifices for our country!

Dancing With The Stars Finale

Oh well, Brooke & Derek won Dancing with the Stars. I really wanted Lance and Lacey to win!

Also, one thing I was mad about though was I tried to call the night before to vote and the whole phone voting thing is messed up! You were supposed to get 5 votes per phone line for the finale. I have 3 cell phones I was going to call from, totaling 15 votes, right? Wrong? Guess what? I got through twice.

What happened was the first phone I got through 2 times when I finally got through again, it said I had reached my call limit! It was busy! That's not supposed to count. I called on the second phone. I never got through once. It finally went through and said I had reached my call limit! I didn't even get through one time! I didn't even bother with the third phone. The voting system is messed up.

I was trying to vote for Lance, I mean maybe my 15 votes weren't going to matter in the long run. But who knows how many other people this happened to. The voting system is totally screwed up!

Change America with a $20 Investment

Rebuilding of America or ROA is an investment opportunity that is really affordable. For only $20.00 plus a $5.00 processing fee you can help rebuild America.

Through a FDIC fully insured certificate of deposit, you can really help the economy.
ROA can and will help the economy by using the CDs to purchase, rehabilitate, modernize or finish foreclosed income producing properties all throughout the USA. Then they will take 100% of the profits from these projects and distribute them back to the investors annually. ROA's operational costs come from interest on the CD's. This will allow investors a full return on their investment.

This really is a worthwhile investment. You can benefit by making an investment and getting a return on it. And you will help stimulate the economy without burdening or taxing the hard working men and woman of America.

The message behind this program is really meaningful, and it is very feasible. ROA believes that yes we can rebuild America!
If you would like more information on ROA then please read the letter written by the CEO of 'Rebuilding of America', Jim Jameson.

Forgot an Appointment

I was supposed to go to a conference with my daughter's teacher today. Or so I thought. The conference was actually yesterday! I totally missed the appointment.

I thought I was supposed to meet with the teacher at 4:10 today (after my daughter gets home from school) to have the annual parent/teacher conference. Around 3:45 I was getting ready to leave shortly when my daughter informed me that the meeting was supposed to be yesterday! I even have it written on my calender for Monday not Tuesday, but for some reason just kept thinking it was today. I can't believe I did that! I totally missed the appointment. I wonder what the teacher thinks, it was totally unintentional I just totally got the days mixed up.

Oh well there is nothing I can do about it now. I emailed her as soon as I realized what had happened and explained. I didn't hear back from her yet. But I just wanted her to know that I didn't intentionally not show up. I don't usually do stuff like that! We'll just have to reschedule after the Thanksgiving break. Or my daughter mentioned the teacher just might have like a phone conference with me.

I really beat myself up over stupid stuff like this. Oh well mistakes happen. Now I have an conference tomorrow at my son's school. I checked and double checked the date and time on that and I should be able to make it!

MEGA Brand Toys

There is a great website for toys for kids. It's called MEGA Brand toys. And they have everything from Magnext Dynamix Gears, to a cool dragons figurine to a Magnext iCoaster.

My son would love this Magnext iCoaster! It's a 64 piece coaster that you can put together yourself. It's a state of the art rollercoaster that has a magnetic track it can do stunts and you can even play play music with it! It plays up to 20 background music and sensor beats you can even plug in your MP3 player to it!

Wow that sounds really cool.
The Magnext iCoaster can really bring out a kids imagination. And not only is it fun but it's a learning toy too. Because kids have to put it together themselves. It comes with 10 suggestions on configurations, or you can use your own creativity. It gives them some teachings in science and physics.

I'm sure my son would really love to have this toy! If you have kids you need to buy toys for this holiday season check out MEGA Brand Toys. Hey, I'm sure even the "big kids" meaning boyfriends and husbands, etc. would love one of these toys.

BabyMaker

Lydia from On The Verge is having a giveway. She's giving away a $10.00 gift cerficate to Macy's. And all you have to do is make a baby(not a real one, a virtual one!) and link it back to her blog, then go add your link over at her blog.

One thing though it says no glasses on the pictures you use, but my husband wears them so don't have any pictures without them. Here is my virtual baby. Because I'm done having real ones.

What do you think? Kinda scary I think.

Early Christmas Present

I'm getting an early Christmas Present! I already know what my mother has gotten me for Christmas. And I think I will be getting it on Thanksgiving.

Remember when I talked about how I lost the diamond in my engagement ring? (See: I Lost My Diamond!) Well awhile back I was telling my mother what had happened. And I wanted to take it to the jewelers in my home town, because my mother has been going to them for years. And I would trust them with it. So my mother said to give her the ring and she would have it fixed for me.

She brought the ring in the the jewelers and they told her there is no fixing it. It was so old and broken that the diamond could not just be popped back in. And another thing that has been wrong for a long time is that the gold was really thin all around the ring.

So the only way was to get a whole new ring made! My mother called me and said she would be willing to get me a new ring made, but it would be my Christmas present. Fine by me! She also wanted to know my ring size. I had no idea, but knew the old ring was always way to big on me.

Tip: If you need your ring size go to Walmart or Target jewelry displays. And they can size your finger. Without any pressure to buy anything. That's what I did, I went to Walmart. That way I didn't have to feel weird going into some fancy jewelry place. And guess what? The ring I have been wearing for about 15 years was a size to big! I take a 7 and it was an 8!

So I'm really excited to see my new ring on Thanksgiving! And I'm really grateful to my mom for doing this for me! I also think everyday how lucky I really was that I found the diamond to begin with!

Kmart Layaway - Just in Time for the Holidays

I like Christmas, just as much as anybody, but lately I am really getting somewhat anxious over it. Mostly because of the expensive of it all. But then I heard that Kmart Layaway for the Holidays is available!

This is great news just in time for my Christmas shopping. Now all I have to do is go to Kmart and select the items I want to buy. Such as the Nintendo DS my son wants for Christmas. Then I take it to the Layaway counter at Kmart and make a down payment on my Nintendo DS. Then all I have to do is make payments on it every two weeks at my Kmart store. And once the Nintendo DS is paid for I can bring it home and wrap it up for my son. Just in time for the holidays!

Also before I start the layaway process I will read the Kmart layaway fast facts which state that a layaway contract is 8 weeks. And that the service fee for all layaway contracts is $5.00. There is also a $10.00 fee for any layaway cancellations. These fees or a 10% down payment (which ever is greater) is collected when you start the layaway process.

As long as my payments are on time I will be able to take home my Nintendo DS and I won't have to be so anxious about anymore. Instead I can start looking forward to the holidays!

Make a $20 Responsible Investment

Rebuilding of America is an organization that unites everyday people to help their communities. Through affordable, secured certificates of deposit they invest, rebuild, and resell viable income producing properties.

For only a 20 dollar investment (plus $5 processing fee) you could help to get worthwhile projects up and running again. You can make a difference as an investor in the United States. Your purchase of a $20 FDIC Insured Certificate of Deposit is a fast, easy and safe investment that can actually make a difference.

Just think what you normally spend $20 dollars on. You would spend that much and more just to see a movie in the theater. For only $20 you could actually use your money for a worthwhile investment instead. Projects that could benefit from Rebuild America are loans to construction sites enabling construction, jobs and completion of projects that otherwise would not be completed. This can really help rebuild America!

Comments

Sorry to any one who left a comment on my blog today. I just had 3 comments left and somehow they got deleted. Unfortunately once they are deleted there is no getting them back, which is very frustrating. I apologize to anyone who commented here today. It was a total mistake. To rectify it I have switched back to un-moderated comments. That way all comments will go through, except on posts older than 14 days old. As long as I don't get to much spam I will keep it this way.

Once again I apologize to those who took the time to comment and got deleted. I value all comments, that are meaningful and am really upset some were deleted. It shouldn't happen again. Thanks.

Win a Free Trip to New Zealand

I love to travel. And one of the places I've always wanted to visit is New Zealand. But the expense of such a trip is not in the cards right now. Or is it? I just found out that there is a contest where I could win a free trip to New Zealand!

Right now Larry the Travel Guy and Air New Zealand are giving away two round trip tickets from LA to Auckland New Zealand. If you would like to travel to New Zealand, like I would, and maybe even become a travel blogger, then you should enter this contest. Larry The Travel Guy will feature your trip on his site while Air New Zealand foots the bill.

Visit Larry the Travel Guy's site to help prepare your trip. You can view his videos and pictures of all the places he's been. While in Auckland, New Zealand you could do some bungee jumping
off the Southern Hemisphere’s largest structure, go to one of the many cafe's for a latte, or visit one of the many wineries in the area. There is so many sites to see.

Changes are Coming

Embedded Video

Above is a video called Changes are Coming. After watching this video, my first impressions are that it means, we should change our ways in order to make a better future. Times are changing, money is tight, foreclosures are on the rise and many more economic crisises are happening. But if we want to succeed and not go back to what obviously hasn't worked in the past then we should change the way we do things in the future.
Bill_shatner
Everyone from the government to the media should change their ways in order for us to move forward. Watch the movie and see what you think it's message is. What are your impressions of it? After viewing it, if you like follow the above link and leave your comments on YouTube about this video. It would be really interesting to get other peoples opinions about what they think the message is, so leave a comment at the YouTube site if you get a chance!

Four Foods on Friday 56

Four Foods on Friday time again. Here's this weeks questions:

#1. What’s the worst tasting food you’ve ever eaten?

Anchovies on Ceasar Salad. I love Ceasar Salad and if you get it at a restaurant they usually ask if you want anchovies. One time they just put them on with out asking and I thought I'd try them. Yuck. That was the only time I ever tried them.

#2. Share a funny or embarrassing story about a meal you’ve made.

I was cooking a meal for my in-laws (future in-laws at the time, because it was before we were married.) but I wanted to make a dessert with a meringue topping. I have never made meringue topping in my life so had no idea how to make it. It wasn't coming out right. Was coming out soupy. My friend who was there trying to help had no idea either. I tried calling my mom, she wasn't home. I was starting to panic, when honest to God, I turned on the TV and on PBS was Julia Child, explaining how to make meringue! I couldn't believe it. Julia Child saved me!

#3. What food do you burn or have problems cooking most often?

A lot of times chicken. It either comes out dry, to greasy, to undercooked. I have a hard time getting it just right.

#4. Name two foods you’ll be eating on this Thanksgiving.

Turkey and clam dip! (we always have clam dip at parties as an appetizer!)

Naked Brothers "Operation Mojo"

Natnalex

My kids like the Naked Brothers Band. And this Saturday, November 22nd, there will be a new movie premiering called Operation Mojo.

If you're not familiar with the Naked Brothers Band, they are two brothers who have a show on Nickelodeon. Alex Wolff is the drummer in the band and Nat Wolff is the lead singer. But the problem is Nat has lost his Mojo. Alex wants to help him get it back, but he can't do it alone. He needs our help.

There are three ways in which you can help. First you can watch and send to five friends Nat's YouTube videos. You could also subscribe to Nat's YouTube channel. And you can make Nat&Alex.com your homepage. That way his MojoMeter will rise and he'll get his Mojo back.

Also as part of the premiere of Operation Mojo there will be a live chat with Nat & Alex. So check out the live chat, the movie, and the YouTube videos and their homepage all to help Nat get his Mojo back!

Halloween Candy Gone

Good news and bad news. The good news is that the Halloween candy is pretty much gone. The bad news is that the Halloween candy is pretty much gone.

It's good because now I won't be tempted to eat it anymore. And bad because that means I ate more then I should have! I don't know what happened this year, but the candy went pretty fast. I ate more then usual - I really don't usually eat it. But this year I was really tempted by it. And the kids seem to like a lot more of it then they have in the past.

As a side note one use for it, my daughter came up with, is to mix it in with Sundaes. Have you ever been to Stone Cold Creamery? They mix candy and all kinds of stuff into the ice cream. Well my daughter did that with some of her Halloween candy.

Well now Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up. I'm going to try to refrain from eating too much. If this keeps up I'm really going to need some diet pills !

Brian Boyle on the Ellen Show

An inspiring story on the Ellen Degeneres show today. Brian Boyle was in a horrible car accident, died 8 times, and was in a coma. He went on to come out of the coma after many operations, etc., to go back to his love of swiming and even entered in an Iron Man competion. He credits his recovery to Ellen Degeneres! When he was in the hospital (even when he was in a coma) he could hear the Ellen Degeneres show on TV. And it inspired him to get better. Once he was out of the coma he continued to watch the show and even when he couldn't talk, the nurses knew to keep the show on or turn it up, etc. because he would "blink" that's what he wanted. Ellen's funny show helped him to make a full recovery! Like he said I guess "Laughter is the Best Medicine!"

I couldn't find the clip of him on Ellen since it was just on today. But here is a video I found that shows exactly what happened to him and what he went through.

Cell Phone Deals

Right now there are some really cheap cell phone deals out there. If you need a new cell phone or maybe looking to give one as a gift then now is the time to check out these great cell phone deals.

Companies such as Verizon Wireless are having deals where you could even get a free cell phone. I use Verizon Wireless and I have really had good luck with them. The Verizonwireless Storm looks like a great phone. The Storm is a Blackberry. Last time a got a phone, I wish I had gotten the Blackberry. I really want a Blackberry!

ATT Blackberry Bold also looks like a great phone. And you can get a really good price on this from ATT. Some of the features of it are On-The-Go Email, Advance Bluetooth technology, and a 2.0 megapixel camera, to name a few.

You can also get a Sprint Instinct phone for free with free shipping! The Instinct has touchscreen technology. Which is a great feature. It also has a built in GPS, and you can surf the web on it. And do a lot more with this nice cell phone.

So if you're looking for some great cell phone deals check out all these great phones, and see which one you like!

Works For Me Wednesday - Pancakes

The kids (and me too - lol) love homemade pancakes. So I've been making them on my Black and Decker griddle. I've actually had this thing for years, but have just started using it more. It really makes the pancakes great! And you can cook a lot at once.

I asked my kids yesterday if they wanted me to make them pancakes for breakfast, and my daughter said "Why what's tomorrow? Do we have school?" That's because she is used to that kind of breakfast only on the weekends. But with the griddle I feel inspired to even make them on a weekday!

If you are looking for a unique gift for the holiday season, then you should consider a Cryo-Cell gift card. Cryo-Cell is a global leader in stem cell solutions.

Happy With Daughter's Report Card

My daughter received her report card the other day. I'm very pleased with how she did. She is in 3rd grade this year. It is the first year where that she has actually received letter grades. Up until now she would just get checks and stars and such.

She got a B- in Language Arts, a B- in Math, a B in Social Studies and an A in Behavior, and an A in Work Habits. They didn't grade Science, because they haven't really done much in that subject yet. So for the first time getting "letter" grades I think she did great!

The one thing she doesn't excel in is Spelling, in fact my son doesn't do that good in that either. He didn't get his report card yet, because his school is on a different schedule. Next week is teacher's conferences, and I know the first thing they will say is their spelling problems. It's an issue every year. Oh well, if that's they only thing they don't do good in then I'm happy!

Yes We Can Rebuild America!

"Change" is on the way. Or so they say. But for now the economy stinks. The stock market is at it's all time low, the housing market is in trouble. And unemployment is up, while prices for everything is at an all time high.

You may be asking, what can I do to help? Well you can help by making a $25.00 investment in Rebuilding of America. This is a program that will help get communities back on track. Construction projects are abandoned daily in this country. With the purchase of a $25.00 FDIC Insured Certificate of Deposit, you can help rebuild the construction and real estate industry. And insure more jobs too.

Just think what you spend $25.00 on all the time. One dinner out for 4 at McDonald's can cost you that. I know that's how much my family spends, just going to McDonald's for one meal. So just imagine what your $25.00 investment will do to rebuild America. If you would like more information I suggest you check out their website.

Save on Laundry Detergent

I have been buying the big box of powdered laundry detergent. Usually "Sun ." It works just as good as the liquid kind and it can cost one to two dollars less (then even the "Sun" liquid kind.) I have been paying $2.99 for a 77 oz (4.81 lb) box of powder detergent. The same brand liquid kind can be $3.99 to $4.99. You also get 3 to 4 times as much in the powdered kind. I'm sure some of the name brands can be as much as $5.99 and up.

So if you want to save some money consider buying the powder detergent. I have always bought the generic kind of detergent anyway for the price and it works just as well. Also some of the "name brands" believe it or not are the one's I'm allergic too.

Spend the Holidays in Branson

Hiltonsocial-ad-300x400
Every year in my house there is a debate on what we are going to do for the holidays. It starts before Thanksgiving and into Christmas, maybe even New Years. Should we stay home? Should we go to your mother's house, my mother's house or my sister's house? And eventually we decide whose house to go to and then try to make it up later to the one we didn't go to.

Someday I would really like to skip all the drama. One way to solve that would be to take a vacation somewhere over the holidays. Then we wouldn't have to go to anyone's house. One great place that would be nice to visit is the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing or the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel.

These hotels have some great packages to choose from too. There are four packages, including, Thanksgiving Package, It’s a Wonderful Life Package, Santa’s Coming to Town Package or the New Years’ Eve Package. There are also a lot of great nearby attractions to see, on your stay, to get you in the holiday spirit. Such as light displays, parades, shows and old time nostalgia created in Branson!

I'd really love to go and stay at one of these hotels where they have great hospitality. And Branson has great entertainment available and world-class dining. This sounds like a great way to spend the holidays!

Tackle it Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

This week (well actually for a few weeks, and a few more to come) I have been tackling the leaves in my yard.

Here's a picture taken before raking: (actually this is our second time clearing the yard, we had cleared a lot of the back yard, then it rained and more leaves came down, so we had to clear it again)

Here's a picture after we raked up as many leaves as we could (it was very cold and windy over the weekend):

Here's a picture of all the bags we raked up over the weekend (like I said we had already raked up another batch a few weeks ago)

I feel good we have gotten a lot accomplished with raking the leaves. Last year it had already snowed around this time of year so we had to wait until spring to rake up a lot of the leaves. I hope it snows doesn't snow soon so we can don't have to rake up the leaves.
