ABC's Election Night Coverage

ABC's Election Night coverage is going to be really different this year. They are planning to take advantage of digital signage.

They are taking over Times Square next Tuesday with real time election results being displayed on signs. It's the first time they will be doing this. It should be interesting to see the results showing on the enormous signs all around Times Square.

Great Made to Measure Suits

Storefront_logo

Looking for a great custom suit? Well the company My.Suit makes Made to measure suits . My.Suit has over 40 years of manufacturing and retail experience.

They have combined technology with fine craftsmanship to make made to measure mens’ suits at off the rack prices. When you visit their website you will be able to take a tour of the My.Suit buying experience. The first thing that takes place in the buying experience is a consultant will guide you through the process.

The consultant will help you with measuring, styling and fabric selection. Measuring consists of determining your body type. Then they will take up to 30 measurements, unlike an off the rack suit that is usually only 3 measurements. Next will be styling. The elements of styling have two basic choices jacket type and pant type. I would recommend a double breasted jacket with pleated pants. After you determine the style you want, comes fabric selection. The main things to consider when choosing fabric is the occasion the suit will be worn and the season it will be worn.

As you can see there is a lot to consider when choosing a custom suit. But the My.Suit experience will be there to help you every step of the way. Your consultant will make sure you are comfortable with your My.Suit experience, so you will have the made to measure suit you want.

2. Dream Job Contest

Remember that dream job contest I had entered? Where I said I wanted to work for The Red Sox. A few people have asked me what ever happened with that. Well I have checked the website every now and then and it still says "Winners Posted soon, still judging." Not like I expected to win 1st place, but there were other prizes I might had have a chance to win. But come on! This contest ended like 3 months ago. How long does it take them to judge? So I have no idea what is going on with that. Thanks to anyone who voted for me.

That's a few more updates that I can think of. Any questions let me know.

My Grandparents True Love Story

My grandparents met in the '30's. I think they met at a school function. My grandfather was attending a private men's college, any my grandmother was attending Law School. My grandmother was ahead of her time.

They married in 1938. They had two children, a girl and a boy. My mother and uncle. They stayed together through good times and bad. They remained married for 50 years! Until my grandfather's death in 1988. My grandfather's death really hit my grandmother hard, she was never the same again. She died in 1996.

I love the fact that they were married for 50 years. That is an achievement in itself. They found their Prince Charming and Princess.

It is hard to meet that special someone nowadays. If you're looking for your Prince Charming or Princess then you should try True.com. True.com is an online dating service that millions have already joined. They have scientific compatibility testing. They also have criminal screenings for felons and marrieds. They have very strict polices and screening, so that criminals or people that are married can't use their service. And if one of them happens to get through they will be dealt harsh punishments.

So it's nice to know that if you use True.com you can feel safe knowing you are talking to other singles too. Also the best feature is sign up is free! You can search for free on True.com and start looking for your Prince Charming or Princess, just like my grandparents!

My Husband's Job

My husband was working two jobs. He stopped working the second job almost a year ago. Unfortunately the second job also included dental insurance. We were able to keep the dental insurance for almost 5 months after he left the second job.

But then it got canceled and we have been without it. But now I'm excited because the job he has now is getting a whole new insurance that will include dental insurance! Going to the dentist is expensive so I'm really happy that we will be getting that back. Now all we have to do is look into getting some term life insurance quotes.

Johnson & Johnson's Consumer Products

We all know Johnson & Johnson for their baby care products. But I was just on their website and they have a vast number of new consumer products too.

This
Neutrogena Wave is a new product from Johnson & Johnson. I actually bought this a few months ago for my son. I know, I know it's pink. But besides that it's great for washing your face. My son is already starting to show some signs of an acne problem. And I wanted him to wash his face on a more regular basis. Then he saw the commercial for this and wanted me to buy him one. You put a little pad on it that suds up with water, then you turn it on and it vibrates while you rub it over your face. It does a good job cleaning his face, and has motivated him to wash his face more often.

This is one of the many new consumer products Johnson & Johnson has to offer. So whether it's medical diagnostics, analgesics, endoscopic surgery or interventional cardiology, oral care or wound care, Johnson & Johnson makes the products to make peoples lives better. And of course they still have all the great baby care products you remember. Check out their website for all the great products they have. Like the Neutrogena Wave!

So Far This Has Not Been a Great Day

My daughter woke up this morning and said her ear hurt. She has been having a cough for a little over a week, so I thought it was just from that. I decided to let her stay home from school. And to call her Doctor so they could check her out.

While I was waiting to hear from her Doctor, I got a call from my sister. My sister told me my mother is in the hospital. My mother went to the hospital yesterday because she was having chest pains.

So I tried to call my mom in the hospital but the line was busy. Then I got an appointment for my daughter at 10:45 this morning. Went to the Doctors. The Doctor listened to my daughter's breathing. Then she looked in her ear. She said she has a slight pneumonia! And her ear was swollen and red from that! I couldn't believe it! She will have to take antibiotics and it should clear up. And we have to go back in 10 days. I'm just glad that I actually did call the Dr.!

Then I got back and finally got through to my mother. She has had some tests, they are not sure what it is yet. They are keeping her waiting. You know how hospitals are. Don't know much yet. She hopes to go home today. Not sure if that is going to happen. I hope she's ok.

So that is my day so far.

I Love Feeding Birds!

About 15 years ago, I really became interested in birds. For about 5 years I lived in the country. There were so many birds. I set up a bunch of feeders and got a lot of birds coming to them. I had a large variety of birds. Such as Goldfinches, Cardinals, Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks, and a lot more.

But I don't live in the country anymore. I live in the city. Unfortunately I don't get the great variety of birds I used to. But I still get Cardinals, Sparrows, Mourning Doves, and a few others coming to my birdfeeders.

I also not only have birds coming on my feeders, I also have squirrels getting on them! Which I don't mind if the squirrels eat the food off the ground, but it really irks me when they jump on the feeder and start gobbiling up all the bird seed!

I would really love to get a new birdfeeder that is squirrel proof. I was looking online and found some really nice birdfeeders on a website called Birdfeeders.com. They have a huge selection of beautiful bird feeders. They also have some that are squirrel proof. Just what I need!

Here's a picture of a squirrell proof one I really like:

If you like feeding the birds, as much as I do, then check out Birdfeeders.com for a great selection of birdfeeders.

Blogging Updates Part I

A couple of updates about my blog:

1.
Changed my Link list. I found a great post on how to do one myself. Read it here if you want to know how to make one with a scroll box.

It is the same blogroll, I just had to change it because I was using Blogrolling.com. Which appears not to be working anymore. And I had to add a link to my blogroll this weekend and couldn't do it through Blogrolling.com. Which I didn't want to be dependent anymore on them, working or not working.

2.
SezWho is working again on my blog. I noticed the other day that it didn't appear to be working. Then I thought maybe it was because I had bought my own domain, and changed my url. That might of affected it. Even though I think it wasn't working even before that.

But anyway, I got a different key code for it. If you have SezWho, you can add a new blog to it on your preferences. Then they send you an email with a key code, just enter that into the SezWho script. So I did that, and it appears to be working, for now anyway. I'll keep it for now, even though still not sure if I'm convinced of the benefits of it.

So that's a couple of updates. I have a few more, I'll try to post later.

What Animal Are You?

I just took the "What Animal Are You?" quiz. And I thought I would be a cute little kitten or something. But no! The results of the quiz said I'm a chicken! Not what I was hoping for.

You can take this quiz too, just click on the link below.

Here are my results:

You Are a Chicken

You are a naturally curious and inquisitive being. You are often poking your nose where it doesn't belong!

Collecting nuggets of knowledge is important to you. You enjoy knowing everything you can.

You are very independent and strong willed. You don't like to be bossed around, and you do as you please.

You are quite determined and able to take on challenges. You will “peck away” at a problem until it's gone.

Promises Treatment Center

Promises Treatment Center is a rehab center. Their motto is, "where hope and healing begin."

At Promises their mission is to provide the means to sobriety for you or a loved one. It is a mission they take very seriously. Promises is proud of the compassionate care they have provided for 20 years to their clients.

Dancing With The Stars

Just finished watching Dancing with the Stars. Now I'm actually trying to get through the phone number to vote. Haven't gotten through once.

My favorite tonight was Cody Linley and Julianne Hough. I really like him. He seems like a nice kid and really improves every week. And my daughter likes him to, because he was on "Hannah Montanna." But tonight they said Julianne has to have surgery tomorrow, so she will be off the show for awhile. And Cody will now have to dance with Edyta Sliwinska, until Julianne gets back. I feel bad obviously that she has to have an operation but I hope it doesn't hurt Cody's chances.

I also like Maurice Greene & Cheryl Burke and Lance Bass & Lacey Schwimmer. I know it's great Cloris Leachman is 82 years old and dancing, that's great. But if she makes it through one more week I'm going to scream.

Have you been watching? Who do you like?

Fire Proofing Products

Kbs_logo

I remember when I was in elementary school, and once a year a fireman would come to our class and talk about fire safety. It was a great lesson to learn, but it also always scared me to think about a fire at my house.

The local news is always reporting of fires in houses, apartments and office buildings. It is devastating to people to lose their homes, and offices. Never mind the devastation if there is a loss of life.

That is why it is nice to know there is a way to fireproof our homes and places of business. KBS passive fire.com has fireproof sealant that has been designed to stop fires on electrical cable, electrical cable and PVC Pipe penetrations and joints. By combining firestopping, fire retarding, and fireproofing materials and methods, this complete system has been engineered to stop that loss.

KBS believes it is better to prevent a loss than try to recover from one afterward. They partner with their clients to address the property hazards and possible associated business risks that threaten their facilities from fire, and develop customized loss prevention solutions through Passive Fire Protection to lower risk.

Knowing that homes and offices can be protected with fire barrier sealant can give many peace of mind from fire danger.

Photo Hunters 133 (15) "Scary"

This weeks theme is "scary." At first I almost skipped this one. But then I thought of a place we went to last weekend. It's called the "Yankee Siege" and they have a big catapult machine that flings pumpkins. My son took these pictures of the castle they have there, and a big wrecking ball. He didn't get a picture of the big catapult machine though.

You could go into the castle. This place was pretty cool. The pumpkin flinging was cool. What is "scary" about it then, you ask. The "scary" part was when we were about to leave, my son went to look at this big front gate they had. I didn't see it actually happen, but he fell into a shaft in the gate. He fell pretty far down this shaft, and scraped his leg up and really bruised it. He was very "scared." We finally saw him in this shaft (for lack of a better word) and pulled him out. He was pretty shaken up. I was "scared" he had broken his leg. He just got pretty banged up. He is ok now. It pretty much put a damper on our previously fun day. I won't be going back there anytime soon. It was pretty "scary."

Almost Finished with Another Book

As I stated in a previous post, my daughter is really loving the Rainbow Magic Books. I just bought her another one on Wednesday, and she's more than half way through with it. I tried to talk her into getting them from the library. But for some reason she wants to buy them. I guess she wants to own them herself.

I'm trying to find some websites were I could buy them at a good price. Anyone have any suggestions where you could buy books at a cheaper price?

I don't want to quell her love for reading. So it looks like I'm going to be needing some more bookshelves.

Four Foods on Friday 52

Introducing Little Reader

BrillKids Inc. is introducing Little Reader. The most powerful tool available to teach your child to read!

What is Little Reader? It is a early learning software tool for parents and educators who wish to teach children to read in an easy, powerful and efficient way.

Suitable for ages four months and up, you can use Little Reader to teach your child to read basic words, phrases, and even complete stories.

Little Reader incorporates methods developed over several decades by experts in the early learning field and takes advantage of the right-brain learning capabilities of children during the critical early years.

This would be a great program for anyone who wants to teach children to read in a fun way. Little Reader enables users to easily create flash cards, using the computer as a powerful platform with which to educate very young children.

Press Release:

October 23, 2008 – BrillKids Inc. announces the launch of Little Reader HOME BASIC, a downloadable software tool for parents and educators who wish to teach children to read in an easy, fun and efficient way. Suitable for children aged four months and up, Little Reader enables users to easily create flash cards, using the computer as a powerful platform with which to educate very young children. Incorporating methods developed over several decades by experts in the early learning field in their product’s functionality and design, BrillKids’ Little Reader is able to take advantage of the right-brain learning capabilities of children during the critical early years.

Following the success of their online community, BrillKids provides an answer to the needs of parents worldwide for a more convenient program with which to teach their young ones. Even with the burgeoning children’s product market filled with available educational videos, laminated flash cards, and pre-made slideshow presentations, none come close to providing complete customizable solutions for parents who want to teach their children in a more personalized way. “Little Reader is a groundbreaking program from BrillKids,” said KL Wong, CEO of BrillKids Inc. “Not only is it our very first software product to be made commercially available, it is also the project closest to my heart, having created it specifically for parents like me who could not find convenient ways with which I could create and personalize my little daughter’s flash card lessons. To know that Little Reader can put smiles on children’s faces when they see their parents’ pictures on the screen while being taught their first words about family is simply amazing.”

Helping Parents Teach Their Children to Read
Many parents have already witnessed the benefits of using the Little Reader program during the span of its three-month beta testing period. “I have thoroughly enjoyed using Little Reader - I thought I knew a lot about teaching reading to people of all ages - and particularly since I was a follower of Glenn Doman methods 40ish years ago,” said Amanda, a parent from Brazil. “That said - I have found Little Reader totally inspiring - it is very addictive, and it encourages the user to not only make use of the material provided in the program - but to create their own.”

“My kids really love Little Reader,” adds Paola from California. “This software gives my children lessons they can relate to - their own body/family/toys/pets. And the fact that people from all over the world using any language - even dialects - can come together, share concerns and experiences, give one another support, and contribute to the whole is absolutely amazing. I can honestly say that I don't know of any other software that is as versatile, meaningful and enjoyable as Little Reader.”

Making it Easy for the Busy Parent
BrillKids also offers hundreds of free additional learning library files which Little Reader users can simply download through their online community – a balm for parents who do not have the time to create their own content.

“In my very busy schedule as a working mother, I found Little Reader to be perfect teaching tool,” says Jane from South Carolina. “This program saves me so much time in preparing my teaching materials because it’s just so easy to use, turning ‘lesson time’ into ‘bonding time’ for my little Alyssa. The free additional library files are also fantastic – it’s so convenient to just download what I want, when I want them.”

Created by Parents for Parents
An overwhelming number of requests from parents worldwide spurred the creation of Little Reader, and BrillKids made it a point to take the development of this software closer to the hearts of those who inspired it to fruition through its customer-oriented forefront throughout the three-month beta testing period. The company took all suggestions and comments from an international pool of beta testers and integrated functions to satisfy what real parents need from an educational software program for young children.

Little Reader’s release brings the company closer to their aims of enhancing the quality of life for parents and parents-to-be, helping them give their child the gift of early literacy.

About BrillKids Inc

The Pink Sisterhood Tag

I was tagged by Roxy from Roxiticus Desperate Housewives for the Pink Sisterhood tag. This tag is for a good cause and it is to promote Breast Cancer Awareness.

Here is a few facts about Breast Cancer that I found online: (also if you do this tag try to find your own facts - to keep it different)

1. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States.
2. About 40,460 women will die from the disease this year.
3. Mammography screening remains the best available method to detect breast cancer early.
4. It is known that hormones in a woman's body, such as estrogen and progesterone, can play a role in the development of breast cancer. In breast cancer, estrogen causes a doubling of cancer cells every 36 hours.

Power Properties

I found out about a company called Power Properties. It is a Dallas real estate company founded by brothers Braden Power and Craig Power. The Power brothers love their native city of Dallas and are dedicated to converting older downtown neighborhoods to their former glory.

Power Properties has been striving to be a contributing member of the East Dallas Business and Residential Community for over 13 years.

As of 2002, Power Properties has acquired over 600 units in the Lakewood and Old East Dallas neighborhoods that they have purchased, thoroughly renovated, leased, maintained, and managed.

Rainbow Magic Books

My daughter had a book fair at school last Friday. She bought a "Rainbow Magic Book." These are Scholastic books. They are books all about fairies. There is a whole series of different books that follow a certain story line.

The one she picked out was a Fun Day Fairies book. Called "Willow the Wednesday Fairy." She really liked this book. As evidenced by the fact that she got it on Friday and was done with it on Sunday! I was really surprised how fast she finished the book.

She has read other books before, but it usually takes her a long time to finish it. And a lot of times she will get a book and never finish the whole thing. So for her to finish this whole book and so fast, was really great.

She liked the book so much she wanted to get another one. We just got back from the book store (she had a half a day at school today), and she picked out another one. I try to not buy everything they want (like toys), but when it comes to books that's different. Reading is important and if she is interested in these books and will read them, then I'm all for it.

She is in 3rd Grade (8 yrs. old) So I think these books are good for kids (depending on their reading level) even starting at 1st grade through maybe even 5th grade. So if you're looking for a good series of books that will keep kids interest then I would recommend the Rainbow Magic Series.

MyBlogLog Link Tracking

Anyone use the MyBlogLog Link tracking? You know when you hover over a link and it says for example 4th most popular outgoing link. Or 2 clicks today.

I used to have it working on my blog. Then all of a sudden it stopped working. I added the code to my template. Removed it, added it again. A few times. I have no idea how to get it to work again.

And I think people are clicking on my links. Because my MyBlogLog stats. show that my links are being clicked.

It's not really that important, I just liked having that on my blog. Now I can't get it to work. If anyone that uses it has any advice how to get it to work, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Mustela Skin Care Products

I just found out about some great skin care products. They're called Mustela, and they're for mothers to be and baby.

They have a full line of baby products. The products for baby are: daily hygiene, skin protection, bath time and diaper change. They also have a line of sun protection products for babies.

Mustela also has a line of products for expectant mothers. Some of the products they have are stretch marks lotions, lotions for legs, and body firming activator. These are to name a few. When having a baby, expectant mothers can be so focused on the baby they forget to take care of themselves. The line of Mustela products will guarantee mothers take care of themselves too.

I would recommend to my expectant friends, and anyone having a baby the complete line of products. Especially the sun protection products for babies. Babies skin is fragile and should be protected at all times from the sun. Any burn you get when you are young actually increases your risk of cancer when you get older. So it is very important to protect babies skin from the start.

If you want more information on these products visit the Mustela website. They also have a "Parent's Corner." The "Parent's Corner" has tips & advice and FAQ, and a lot more information, that is great for new moms.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

I took my daughter to the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua last week. We actually went on Columbus Day. I thought my son was going to come too, but at the last minute he said he didn't want to come. I guess he's getting to that age. (Great)

So anyway, my daughter really wanted to see this movie. She thought it looked good from the commercials, and some of her friends from school had gone to see it.

It was surprisingly a very good movie. My daughter really enjoyed it and I liked it too. The dogs were really cute. They talked, but the people didn't know they talked. And it also had a pretty good story to it. And it beats seeing a cartoon. I like some of the Disney cartoons too, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it's nice to see a movie with real people in it.

The other thing I wanted to mention, was that we went to see it at AMC Theaters. AMC Theaters offers admission for $4.00! On Saturday, Sundays and Holidays if you go to the first showing of the movie everyone gets in for $4.00. So that was a great deal! The first showing is somewhat early. Beverly Hills Chihuahua started at 11:23 am, but it was worth it to get in for a total of $8.00. I'm not sure if all AMC Theaters offer this, but if you have one in your area, check their website. It is worth it for the price.

So if you're looking for a good kids movie to see, I would recommend Beverly Hill Chihuahua, for the whole family.

What's Your Real Age?

I just took the RealAge Test. I feel pretty healthy lately. Even though I turned the unmentionable 40 last March. I don't even like to think about it, but age is only a number right? You're as young as you feel, as they say. And I feel good for my age.

Logo

RealAge.com is a consumer-health media company and provider of personalized health information and management tools. Your RealAge is the biological age of your body, based on how well you've maintained it. My RealAge Test results were actually better then I thought. My calender age is 40.6 and my Real Age is 43.9. So that is only a 3.3 year difference. It could be worse.

But I am fairly healthy. I don't smoke, I drink moderatly. And my family genetics are pretty good too. The areas where I need improvement are the diet and excersise. I should vary my diet more. I need more vitamins and minerals, either through food, or supplements. And I should eat more fruits and vegetables.

I also should excersise more. I knew when I was taking the test, that was going to be one of the main issues. I really don't get enough excersise. After taking the test, you find out your results and then it gives you suggestions on how you can improve your score. The diet and excersise suggestions I recieved were really helpful.

If you want to find out your RealAge, Take the RealAge Test! It's free! And it was easy to do, and fun too!

Say It Ain't So - Red Sox Lose!

I'm sad. Red Sox lost last night 3-1. Red Sox won't be going onto the the World Series. It will be Tampa Bay Rays vs. Philadelphia Phillies.

I really thought we had a chance, especially after Pedroia got a home run in the first inning. And we came back from a 3-1 deficit in the series to make it 3-3 and force the game 7. I don't know which is worse, if we had lost Thursday, when I was pretty much resigned to the fact. But then we won Thursday and Saturday, only to come so close and lose. It's almost worse this way.

Oh well. I'm trying not to be to depressed about it. There's always next year. Oh yea, and one more thing TBS stinks. The announcers stink, and Saturday nights game was "experiencing technical difficulties" for almost a half an hour at the beginning of the game. That is ridiculous, this was a really important game and I basically missed the whole first inning. I really hope they don't have the games on there anymore.

No more Red Sox talk till next year, I guess.

Photo Hunters 132 (14) "Family"

This weeks theme is "Family." This should be easy right? Well if you're like me, the one who usually takes all the pictures, then it's hard to find to many with yourself in it. And one with all of you in the picture. Also not only do I take most of the pictures, I actually don't really like to be in the pictures.

Well anyway here's a couple pictures of me and my "family."

The "Family" after a hike in Franconia Notch, NH

And here's another one of the "family" in Hollywood Studios, Disney World.

Happy Photo Hunting!

A Great Toothbrush for Kids

The other day my daughter and I were in Walmart. I was looking for a replacement head for my electric toothbrush. And my daughter picked up a toothbrush and asked me if she could get it. She didn't really need a new toothbrush yet, so I hesitated for a second. But then I looked at the price, which was only like $1.88 for two (together) toothbrushes, I said sure. Plus if she wants a toothbrush, and I'm lucky to exit Walmart with just that I guess I shouldn't complain.

So anyway, she picked out a "FireFly" toothbrush. Which is a really cool toothbrush. What's cool about it, is that it lights up while you brush. You bend the bottom of the toothbrush, and a light flashes for one minute. So that you know how long to brush for. You brush the tops for one minute, then when your done, push it again and brush the bottoms for one minute. My daughter has truthfully over the years given me a hard time about brushing her teeth. But she really seems to like this toothbrush. And has been brushing the 2 minutes!

This toothbrush is great! If it will get her to brush better and more, I'm all for it. I know there is probably other ones out there like this, but I really like this "FireFly" toothbrush. And you can't beat the price! Check out Walmart, if you want to get one.
